Hi. I'm John. John Doe. At least I was back in grade school. Failing my classes. When I was in grades 1-4, I was doing good in school. The usual As and Bs as everybody got. But then I started smoking at least twice a week from grades 5-8. I almost forgot my own name at one point, and for the most part, I didn't even know my classmates.

My epiphany only came when I stopped smoking so frequently in high school. Now just a quick note, I was not living in Amsterdam back then. Around 7th grade was my smoking peak. Me, my brother, and his friends (who were all older than me. You ain't gonna find another 7th grade pothead besides me), were really comfortable with weed already, and we would just smoke it everyday. That's when I got my first ever C. Of course, my grades were already tanking to all Bs and only 1 or 2 As every semester.

I had a best friend in grade school too. Call him Jermaine. I only started to even acknowledge our friendship when I stopped smoking so frequently. Beforehand, it was like I was on auto-play. My relationships with other people simply didn't exist, but he seemed to have seen something in me. I lost my other best friend to some other guy, I don't really give a fuck about him anymore, and Jermaine became my closest friend since then. But then I started smoking weed, and I just didn't know about that anymore. It seemed all new to me in the 6th grade, our best-friendship. But he seemed to accept me, cause his brother was a druggy, so that's what he grew up with. All of this made me realize...

Weed is bad. Drugs are bad. Don't do it guys.

My one friend was a good student and he never got a B and then he started smoking with his brother and after that he stopped doing his work his parents couldnt make him stop doing drugs his brother actually tried to convince him to stop and he wouldnt then he would come to school maybe once a week but then when he did he would sit in the bathroom and smoke and even when he had to spend time in juvie he didnt listen and when he finally quit is because i had to beat him up and smash his bong and flush his weed down the toilet and i gave him a bible and that day he quit and now he goes to church every sunday

Actually, I know plenty of people who started smoking before age 10. I was 16 when I started, and I'm glad I waited.

Auto-pilot. When I first started I smoked EVERY DAY, at least twice or thrice a day. I stil do and never stopped. I know this well, it was like I was watching my life happen like a movie. I lost half of my vocabulary (or at least neglected it).

Actually, weed is great. Moderation is the key. I've moved on since to have done many "harder" psychedelic trips and although I just smoke pot anymore, I believe that every experience I had was healthy.

Your problem was smoking every day, and pushing yourself beyond a healthy boundary. I did it too. I just eventually gained such a tolerance so as to be fully functional. In a sense I traded book smarts for spiritual/metaphysical insight. I believe myself better for it.

Thread should be retitled: Weed in excess can be bad.

Or, conversely: Everything in moderation.

Sorry to hear your story man, but you didn't moderate or control yourself. I know MANY potheads, and they range from the stereotypical "I don't give a fuck, smoke dis' bud" smokes to people who still get A's and B's in college and enjoy a good smoke now and then.

Moderation is always the key for everything; weed is no different. I started smoking around the middle of my high school career and I never had any issues in school. I only smoked when I absolutely knew I had nothing to do, which usually meant Friday or Saturday nights. On the other hand, I knew people who would wake up, smoke, go to school fried, come home, smoke again, and then complain about how they were failing gym and everything else.

Moderation is the key, and it should be the new drug education policy in America. Weed isn't the problem. The problem is a lack of self control and that is a trait that can be applied to alcohol, food, and everything else.

And, for the record, the unsuccessful guy wasn't unsuccessful because he smoked pot, he was unsuccessful because he was a black person.
