I've actually seen SMB Online a few times in the portal, yet it passes every time. :O

Anyway, I'm going to hit the Genreless flashes page, plan to do at least 10.

Just answering some stuff on this page:

1) I've been categorizing "Escape" games as Adventure - Point 'n Click, although it is getting tempting to give them an entire sub-genre. I always tag them with "escape" - this way when users can eventually search by tag results, they will be able to generate a list of all the escape games. It also means that ultimately the view page will show "escape" as one of the tags, and clicking it will lead to a list of all escape games.

2) Changing the content rating for a submission takes a long time to submit because it has to do some massive re-indexing of data. I tend to let it sit for a while, then hit Submit a second time and if enough time has passed, it works. In terms of when to change ratings...

Be lenient when switching things from TEEN to MATURE. For example, Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid were rated TEEN by the ESRB, so all that blood and decapitations is ok in the TEEN category. The most important thing is to make sure all the purely adult stuff is rated ADULT.

That's cool 'n shit, Tom, but PLEASE make a physics genre. Sometimes physics games aren't action, and they aren't puzzle.

I think that Rabid-Animals is also a genre mod. The rest of EJR's list checks out.

These were the first genre mods.

Looks like Jolly is lagging with his script updates.

He is. he's one of those that I forgot.

Also RohanTheBarbarian is.

Is blackfang really a genre mod?

Or did the Genre mod "blackfang" get a name change?

Hmm, seems good, however Chrome has no about:config. Any help?

He changed his name to Kool-Aid.

I have no idea how active everyone is on the list I posted, but I don't think Tom has demodded anyone yet so they are all still genre mods.

Yeah, Chrome has no config console, like Firefox does. You can just wait a week for the script to update, can't you? Either that, or change the update time directly in the script, run it, then change it back.

Yup, it shouldn't be a big deal to wait.

Going to get some genres done now.

Im a genre mod. Im changing things slowly, but the most notable thing I did was change the Hansel and Gretel flash from a rating of T to a rating of M due to the disturbing nature of the flash. I PMed the author and he wholesomely agreed.

I actually decided to change Gretel & Hansel 2 back to Teen, as I think teenagers can handle the gory bits of the game.

I'm always hoping it will get updated but probably not... For now it's marked as spam so it won't show up in other results.

Well alright. I actually PMed the user and he said he didn't mind it being M. I just think that there are very gruesome things in that game that are considered "shocking" because they are all being done on a little girl. It's up to you though haha.

I did when I did the icons.

I'm not sure how to name this one. What do you call this type of game?

Also, I tag escape games as "escapegame". The word escape is usually in the title anyway. I find the use of that word annoying though because there are plenty of animations of people escaping places which brings me to a question.

Can tags mean different things depending on if you are looking for a movie or a game?

Because if "escape" can be chosen to bring up one of the other, that is far more useful then if it brings both up together, especially if you don't want to play an escape game and there are a LOT of escape games.

I recommend you find 10 genreless flash movies/games, find the correct genre for them, and come up with tags for them and post them here.

Before you do though, read Bahamut's tagging guide

It's linked on the first post.

Response to The Genre Mod Crew 2010-10-15 19:32:42

I'm not sure if this has already been addressed, but what tag would should we use for black and white movies? b&w? blackandwhite?

Also, this was rated M.

Should I keep it E? It was rated M for nudity, but there really isn't any.
