Can you imagine a planet that, instead of orbiting a star, orbits a black hole?
Spiraling and freezing to its ultimate doom, or just happily orbiting it at a safe distance?
What do you think?

Everything in the milky way is orbiting a blackhole. From what I understand. So have first hand experience with what it is like.

Of course, but I was actually referring to an hypothetical black hole, outside our supermassive one. Just a thought.

I don't know much about space or anything but I've always found it quite interesting. None the less, black holes are fucking amazing and the wikipedia article just blew my mind.

Indeed... strange objects, huh? Swallowing everything in its path. Did you know they're not eternal, but can have an amazingly (and disturbing) lifespan? Up to trillions of years in the future. Hell yeah xD

It's possible but really unlikely. It'd have to orbit at exactly the right distance from the black hole and exactly the right speed.

Is it just me, Or does this make you think of Super Mario Galaxy? How every planet has its own little black hole waiting eagerly for you to fall in it.
When we master travelling at the speed of light, we can see if there's a galaxy like that.
