No he didn't, he definitely helped increased popularity but it has been popular before him and other things made it popular too. It was featured on the TF2 blog before seananners.

Oh yeah, I stumbled upon that just Saturday! Very well written, and a good way to get pumped to play survival mode if it's you're just getting into the game yourself.
I didn't know he had made a new post, either. It's probably the best of the bunch, although he seems to have settled down from his initial giddy, childlike, tongue-in-cheek excitement into pure, unabated awe at the game.

The first day i played this game, me and a friend played a 12 hour marathon of building a town in some random server. Good times. Personally though I slightly enjoy Classic more due to me being more creative rather than having to gather the materials.

Somethings up with Minecraft. i can't log in, the screen stays black and i have to restart the computer just to get it to go away no matter how many times i press "X"
And now i can't even go on Minecraft.net with ANY of my browsers!
Are the servers starting back up again? Man that would suck i just started to like Minecraft now that i built all the pickaxes and obtained Iron and stuff :(

Dude your missing the point, after i built my fort i built some big ass sky bridge complete with staircase, then got bored and built a roller coaster going around it, then made an island and planted tree's in and made a wall of cactus to keep the monsters away.
Then built an island fort on another island right next to the one i built the sky bridge on, then connected those and shit went crazy.....
Also are there mermaids or something in the game, i thought, when i was building that sky bridge i looked down and saw what looked to be a bunch of houses.
i tried swimming down but it got too dark too see so i went back up.

the server is up again, but did manage to play a fair amount before it got back in action again.
