I'm not sure if it's a security thing, but I find it a bit of a pet peeve for websites such as this one and Facebook when you click the 'remember info' check mark before logging in, you expect it to actually remember your info. After clicking off my internet browser several times, it oddly forgets said info.
Site hosts like SMF actually display timers that show how long you want to stay logged in, even if you exit from your internet browser. I set my timer on 'forever' for obvious log-in conveniences.
So I'm wondering if there's some sort of security measure that logs you out of NG after you visit and leave after several times. Timer? Log-out checker? What?
Oh, and also wondering if anyone thinks the same for whatever websites they visit.

I hate the fact that websites hide your passwords in text form, even from you.
Only casuals use internet cafes and I'm pretty sure there's nobody sat over my shoulder with a pen and notepad in my own house, you can let me see my own password when I type it in.

That is a quirk of your browser and not of the sites that you're visiting. The most likely explanation for this issue is that you have exhausted the number of cookies that your browser can store (there used to be a limit I could have quoted, it's probably increased since then), and when that happens, your login information is removed to make way for more.
Also, wanting to show your password in plain text in your browser is a retarded idea and defeats the point of the password type of the input element. Just because you don't think you have anyone looking over your back, it doesn't mean that other people are in the same situation. You might as well argue that your pin number should be displayed on public ATM machines as you enter the number, even if you visit that machine late at night, when no-one's around.

But yeah, if my browser decided to start deleting cookies, I'd be up shit creek. I have no idea what any of my passwords for anything is.

Says mr passwords in plain text* in the database!
*I say plain text, but it's possible you're encrypting them in some way, but they're still possible to be returned to their original state which makes any such encryption worthless ;_;
I'm sorry, but that always weirded me out, I never got why you do that. Maybe there's a legit reason.

It saves my info for me. Then again I haven't logged out in weeks, I just leave it on all the time.

if you clear your cache or cookies it no longer remembers you, does your browser automatically do this when it closes?

Only like one site forgets for me.
I like it. Ease of access, etc.

Ah, that explains it.
