3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsWhy do so many people hate them? They aren't really such a bad idea. Why do many people always say "the end" every other post as if they think they're cool or being a cunt by 'finishing' it, it also isn't really that hard to contribute. And even most of the time they are locked, mainly because it goes nowhere, mods think it will go nowhere, or they don't like it. No one even bothers to give them a fair chance...
I'm not saying let's make one, but why is there so much hate for these type of threads? I think they're alright.
Finish the story threads are like communism. Sure, they look nice in theory, but they fail when they run into human nature.
RubberJournal: READY DOESN'T EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE IT!
Mathematics club: we have beer and exponentials.
Cartoon club: Cause Toons>> Charlie Sheen+Raptor
unorganized, you never know when someone will post at the same time you do
12 year old kids hop in the thread and randomize shit cause it's so funny kawaii desu xD ^_^

They work a lot better in forums that move slower. That way everyone isn't adding to the same loose end, thus creating many branches and confusion.
Also it works better in a forum where people tend to put the effort into making thought provoking posts, rather than here where it's often more about trying to outshout people or say the required catchphrase first or just be obnoxious because why not?
It might work in the Writing Forum, 'cept with a sign up system and a predetermined list and order of participants (and a guiding theme and word limits, etc.)

You'd actually get a story at the end that'd you'd be impressed with.
