I remember when television use to be golden. I would sit in front of the TV until 6 am watching amazing programming. The TV use to be my friend when I was lonely, and my imagination when I was too lazy to think. BUT ALAS THERE IS NO MORE GOOD TV. It died with Hannah Montanna, when family channel failed to air real cartoons anymore. Miley Cyrus has made some good songs and her show's OK, but seriously, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CARTOONS?! TV died with reality TV, when you needed to have a shitty game show of people doing gross things to get people to watch your show. It died with CSI where you need a 1 hour block of programming on every network every day of the week with your crappy melow drama. IT DIED when you cancelled all of the new series on teletoon the year they were released. IT DIED, when you eradicated Discovery channels soul, there are no more funny animal shows, or shows about whales, PBS has far surpassed Discovery and that's a sad day. The movie channels are a sick brainwashing JOKE. Spike TV ONLY plays Starwars. Gone are the days of Seinfeld, and the Simpsons, GONE are the days of amazing cartoons on Disney when you would pay an extra $3 to get a special box just to play that channel. TV IS DEAD. Now quality programming is saved for one day of the week, Sunday Fox night specials. I hate TV. HATE IT. Burn you foul pigs who make terrible commercials and what ever else you could consider a viable show. FIRE EVERYONE. Bring back variety.

Discovery channel, A&E, and the free movie channels, are brainwashing channels, do not watch. There are a few others. If it seems like they're brainwashing you to be a mush head zombie, THEY PROBABLY ARE.

So please, TV Gods, fire everyone and hire new talent.

They're all about demographics now. They don't have cool ideas, or sweet concepts, just demographics. They're trying to please advertisers and it's not about the story any more. They just create "teen" images in their crappy cartoons that they think the youth can relate too. It' a fucking SHAM. "TEEN CARTOON HERE YAY" "fucking kill me!"

All the old shows are pure reruns from hell. I can't watch a single show any more without it being a rerun, and they have the same programming 3 times a day. There's probably only 4 shows on a fucking network they just replay them OVER AND OVER. KILL IT ALL, WITH FIRE.

Simply put:
TV shows are evolving to meet up with cultural standards. The only reason why they seem a backwater to you is that you grew up in a different era where the standards were different.

Yeah sooner than later TV will be replaced by the internet. I am buying a new TV so I can hook up my laptop to it with a RGB cable. As soon as that happens I will never have to watch another commercial again if I want.

I think I figured it out. Disney sold out. Now they're the family channel. It use to be owned by Disney, THE DISNEY. Walt Disney. The man himself. The guy who created the original beauty that changed the architecture of animation to this day. But than he died. His vision died with him. Now we just have a bunch of paper clip pushing pin heads running the show who don't know good animation from their own asshole, hell they don't even like animation. They like to make non animated shows because they're a bunch of hacks.

Television is better now than it has ever been.

In the last 5 years we've had Breaking Bad, Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica, True Blood, Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Deadwood, Rome, and just on the horizon there's both Boardwalk Empire and A Game of Thrones.

No other period in TV history even comes close.

I don't like TV too much anyway. Whenever I watch TV or a movie, my brain always feels like it got weaker. I would much rather play a game because it forces me to think and interact in ways I find more productive and enjoyable.

As for your situation, there are still a lot of good cartoons around. Also, if you get tired of TV try our flash portal. That's what it's therefore; you can see many entertaining cartoons if you want. If you're good at flash, make your own and increase the quality of the portal.

If you absolutely insist on TV, then you might have to order DVDs of the old stuff, or write to company networks telling them your opinion on the situation.

I miss Cartoon Network back in the good days. Those good days are sadly over. They cancelled all the good shows on it. I grew up watching the cartoons on that channel but now they're all gone. Cartoon Network has died out.

"The Simpsons" is still on, but then again, you could be one of those fans who ignores everything after Season 9. I do understand what you are talking about. A lot of networks are pushing a ton of material that is either not related to their title or making major shifts that limit the demographic. Nickelodeon shows nothing but Spongebob nowadays and while not as bad as, say, MTV, Cartoon Network and the SyFy Channel (dang is that a dumb name) are slowly slipping as well.

I hate TV too, however I ain't so well these days and I watch it anyway. Ah well...
