Most default would be 24 fps for a smooth animation. I myself either work at 24 or 30 FPS. But as I said, every animator basicly choses their preferral...
I'm not sure about FPS for games, im just talking about movies.
so there is a notable difference between 24 and 30?

Yeah, it's pretty evident. I have also animated at 12 fps often. It depends what kind of animation quality and style your looking for.

Basically, lazy people animate in 24, elites animate in 30.
animating in 2's means you're using 12 fps, so if you're doing that, I suggest setting the frame rate to 12, to avoid confusion.
Now, personally I think 12 is a bit low of a frame rate to use, but I also believe 24 is a bit much and requires too much work. 30 fps are the thing if you're doing games, but if you're animating, I'd suggest going somewhere between 12 and 24.
The Swain uses/used 18fps
theres a post on this same page that covers that. Ironically it has 24 replies because 24 fps is the standard, you dont need more than that for a movie, unless you want to overwork yourself...never made a game but ppl say its best to work at 60 fps (guess you can work at sixes xD).
luck on that
ama gon chill

Anybody have any idea why it's best to work at 30-60fps when you're making a game? Never made one.

Because it looks alot smoother so the player feels like it's more responsive.
