Because deep down, we all hate each other. Not the cheap "oh I don't like you" hate, but that grade-A "fuck you, if I ever meet you in person, I will cut out your eyeballs and feed them to your mother while I strangle you slowly" type of hate. It's one big hatred circlejerk.

There are a multitude of reasons, I will condense them down for you.

1.) Grammatical/ spelling error.

Reason why:

Shows an assumed lack of intelligence and effort on the author's part. Seems like they don't care about your time or how they present themselves to others.

2.) illogical thinking/ dumbassary

Reason why:

This isn't tolerated well unless it's funny. If it is funny, you may be able to get away with it... barely. No body wants to waste their time talking to a metaphorical brick wall.

3.) Flaming/ trolling

Reason why:

When someone is an asshole to you, most people's first reaction is to be an asshole back.

4.) The blog post or the advice thread

Reason why:

No one cares about your problems. These post usually cause controversy and outrage towards the poster. The results are hardly ever productive and are highly repetitive. Most of the answers are as follows; get over it, go talk to her, get off your computer for once.

These are just some of the reasons why we react the way we do. The attention span and tolerance of the average user is very low, and the main form of material appreciated on this site is comedy.
