3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsIt really depends. If i feel like relaxing and playing a game, maybe on regular, but if I want a challenge, then I'll start on hard, or expert if it doesn't need to unlocked first.
If I have 3 options I'll choose the middle one, if theres 4 then the second hardest
I like challenge but If I get frustrated I'll turn off the game and probably never play it again.

when i first get a game i play it on hard mode, it feels more fulfilling when i beat a stage thats being a total dick to me. Also i am a quick learner so Normal mode gets too easy after i learn to use combos and stuff properly.
Hell im playing Epic Battle Fantasy 3 (beta) on epic mode!
And Uncharted 2 on hard mode.
Either hard or expert, if I choose hard, I'll play it over on Expert right after I beat hard.
Yeah, whatever.

that depends on what options the game has to offer ,mostly it's on certain games that which would make a difference and how you learn how to play that really enhances the interest behind it , often i normally switch to a more difficult setting until I get finished correctly after so many times. Sometimes kind of screwing around abit in the game that has nothing else by the default and make it even more difficult and longer than it's suppose to be.
When i first play game like call of duty 2 (know its a little old but i still play it :D) i do it on normal cus i,m not very good a gaming and get frustrated easy i,m more a multi-gamer like : cod,cod6,killingfloor,HL2 DM and go on
FPS: Max difficulty.... if its a FPS and you get shot once or twice... you should be dead imo...
I hate hiding and "recovering" ... irl you don't recover from bullet wounds after ten seconds.
After Halo 1, every halo game afterward was Legendary from the start.
CoD is Veteran or whatever the hardest was... (haven't played in forever)
Survival Horror games... normal the first time through, till I get the hang of it... then I strive to attain mastery of the hardest difficulty level. RE5 was completed with an S rank on every chapter on the hardest difficulty.... why? Because I fucking can.
Games like Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout etc. have a different difficulty curve.... some enemies are impossible to kill with the difficulty all the way up... however once you achieve a broken-strong character status, you better believe that the difficulty is all the way up. Killing things in one hit just is not fun. Also, the harder the difficulty, the better the combat rewards.... so I tend to play at a playable difficulty level until things get too easy.
Racing games, Forza Motorsport, Mario Kart etc. are just WAY too easy on anything but the hardest difficulty.
Fighting Games - I really only play some of the older "new generation" Mortal Kombat games (and perhaps tekken tag)... But its Max difficulty all the way. The funny thing is... I can beat the games on the hardest difficulty... my friend can't beat them on very easy.... but he will beat me every single time in a 1v1 match. This is probably because the PC is predictable to the point of getting flawless victories every round, and I've become predictable from fighting the computer so many times.
Games like SSBM/SSBB I do my best to complete everything with increasing difficulty levels, as I get better.
Anyway... If you don't strive to complete the game on the hardest difficulty, you should be ashamed of yourself.
The difficulty I play games on varies. If I'm in the mood for it I throw games onto Hard difficulty, but with games like Call of Duty I play on Recruit, and then Veteran. Sandbox games are my main area of entertainment, and as such I normally choose to play those on their hardest difficulty unless there is no benefit to doing so.
I'm on Last.fm!
Also, I used to be YeOldeSierra. Now I'm just Sierra :3
I used to only play games on the easiest difficulty setting. But now I always start a game on medium difficulty with the exception of Rock Band, which I started on easy and have now made my way up to doing some of the "Solid" songs on Expert drums.
But you generally get more gamerscore for doing games on medium difficulty, so thats an added bonus.
I usually test the first 3 levels with normal if to easy jack it up to hard and if its to hard put it to easy
I usually play it out on normal difficulty. Might try harder difficulties based on how well I do on normal.

I play games for fun. After getting through with easy, i move on to medium and so on. But first playthrough, easy.
Exactly my strategy.
It's known as "replay value". If you like easy, you play again on medium, etc.
depends on the game. I start on easy and work my way up until I'm satisfied.
Isn'tthat exactly what i just said?
I don't play games to be a badass, I play games to enjoy them.
Amen
In my first playthrough I play the game on normal difficulty. Depending on how hard the game is, I keep increasing the difficulty level as I replay the game.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are officialy the 4th person to say that in this thread!
I play most shooters on Normal. I play Gears on Hardcore (between normal and insane) and Halo on Legendary.
The average person has only one testicle.
Definitely the hardest setting. I just feel so much more satisfied when I achieve something in a game. I don't mind playing through something again and again and again just to try and win it. I find that the longer I take to win something, the more satisfied I'll be at the end.
I think most games are way more enjoyable on the hardest setting.

It all depends on the game..it's true, sometimes I just want to steamroll through the entire game without even trying, but that gets old real fast..
I play on a diffuculty that doesn't frustrate me, but also offers a good challenge.
i play The Red star in Hard mode
i uselly start at the hardest difficulty, thats how u learn quickly how to play. Beside if u get easiest dificulty its too short for gameplay and then u get borred out of the game :(

I can't stand all the "someone else already said it" attitude on the forums. Of course people will share opinions, that's as natural as a cat having a tail. What, should I hide my opinion instead?

I agree, stating your opinion yourself even though it was said before is way better than just quoting someone else and saying "This." or something like that.

I always play a new game on normal/medium to get a feel for it. I then go and play on the hardest difficulty because there's always extra trophies these days for doing it. Only girls play games on easy.

I normally start on easy, but if a game really appeals to me, I will usually work my way up to the highest difficulty.
Usually start with Normal/Medium. Unless I'm really into the game, I don't attempt trying to beat it on the hardest difficulties. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Duke Nukem 3D, Star Fox 64, and Goldeneye 64 were the only games I managed to fully complete on the hardest difficulties.
If you want the extra challenge, its there, but if not, no one's forcing you to do it.
Don't pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.
NEVER will i ever play easy mode. I always go Normal first on a new game unless its a sequel then I go for the hardest. Like with Bioshock 2 on the hardest difficulty with no fucking vita chambers on.
We're meat and that's it. So lets fuck it, fuck it, fuck it.

First playthrough for me is usually on normal/medium. And the progressively I'll the the harder ones when I get better. I'm currently playing Metal Gear Solid 2 with "alert -> Game Over" setting on hard, and trying to collect all dog tags that I remember to get while I'm at it.
Strut F. I'm looking at you. And I'm pissed.
Generally, if it's a game I'd be familiar with, like a sequel or a shooter, it'll be normal. If it's an rpg or a different game I start on easy. I don't know why. I gotta get a feel for the controls and mechanics and objectives and such first before I get really into it.
