Hey everyone.

Boy, I'm glad to see there are still people willing to spend their time trying to pick fights with Slipknot fans. What would we have done without them, eh? Now duffeknol, you seem to be an articulate fellow, unlike almost all of the non-fans who post in here. So I'll not insult you...not that that's my style anyway. But I'm curious. What are you hoping to accomplish by posting your negativity here? I would hope you're not so naive that you would think after reading your posts, anyone here is going to "see the light" and stop listening to Slipknot. People like whatever they like, and there's no need to justify it to anyone. You have your own opinion and that's great. But frankly, no one here is interested in why you think they suck. I really wonder what it is that makes people around this place want to bother us so much...

Oh, and if you're just trying to start a fight, grow up. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is more pathetic than tossing virtual words around behind the safety of your anonymity. Penny Arcade said it best like this: Normal person + anonymity + audience = total fuckwad. Don't be a fuckwad.

So, anyway, music... Any Deftones fans here disappointed with the Rarities release? I've nabbed most of those tunes from the web long before that release, and I've got plenty better tunes that weren't on it. It's nice to have a disc with The Chauffeur on it, but most of the rest is either mediocre or not very good at all.

Didn't you get kicked away from metalhell for being a trendy pussy who thought he was actually into 'metal'?
And about the rest: wow, that's like, the most original insults ever, no one saw that coming, I mean, I just got totally pwnd...
- Just got back from a party and even was invited this time =P
- Recently after a gig from my band (we rock)
- No, but I'll be sure to come cry out here and act emo if that'd ever happen
- Good idea, I'll go there now

Yes, I gots that shit. It pwns.

The main reason I got it was for Get This, Eeyore, and Purity. I got mine for $14.99 Canadian, and that's fucking cheap for a 2 disc set.

And El, don't worry, we're still here.

To quote the guy in the green shirt: "What in god's name just happened?" That was really strange. But the baby machine gun action made me laugh. Out loud.

So anybody get that new SOAD disc? I heard about it today, but they didn't have the DVD in my regional code. BLASTED REGIONAL CODING!

I got it, it isn't too bad, but not as impressive as I thought Mesmerize was. And yes, Region codes piss me off. I have too many movies that won't work on my DVD player.

So now why do you figure they released those discs separately? It kinda seems like it should/could have been a double album.

Oh, and speaking of DVDs, how many 'Knot DVDs are there now? I've got Disasterpieces, but that's it.

I still love OG slipknot.. Just.. I really have come to hate their new album.. It truthfully makes me sad deeply inside.. It just seems to have lost all their old goodness, and even more so their old message.
And even more then that this new album really makes me think they have sold out on a huge level.
And for that I would have to balme it on all the stupid "metal/goth" kids that are only what they are because they are so fucking stupid and ignorant that everyone else won't except them. Not because they like metal.. not because they hate conformity... Mainly.. because they fucking suck.

I still hold their self titled album close to my heart.. as well as Iowa..

In an end statement I would like to say.. Incase I never really start posting again..
I hope all of you good fulfilling lives.. And i wish your love for them to live on even if mine has faded.

Well I'm sorry to hear that, for one. But I'd like to bring up a point that bothers me quite a bit, and it revolves around the concept of "selling out." I'd like to know what you think "selling out" means, exactly. It's a term that gets thrown around an awful lot, usually when a band tries something new which results in commercial success. I think it's a really ridiculous concept. Let me throw a few ideas out here which you may or may not agree with, but I hope you'll at least consider.

Regarding commercial success: First off, I think it's a great thing for a band that I like to succeed. Basically it means better odds of more albums, tours, and so on. This is good. Many people like to bring up a band's fanbase, but I fail to see how that has any relation to the music. I really like Marilyn Manson, and most of their more visible fans are embarassing. It has nothing to do whatsoever with their music.

Regarding a change in style: This is also a good thing. Bands that don't change disappear. Whether it's a small departure or a complete overhaul, experimentation is what keeps music and musicians fresh. Stagnation is death, in music and all things. Now whether it suits your taste or not is obviously subjective. However to say you don't like them anymore is a bit of a misnomer, I think. An analogy for you; Metallica continues to be one of my all-time favorite bands, even though they haven't produced a decent album since the self-titled, and that was even only half-good. To say I don't like them is ridiculous. I don't like what they've become, which unfortunately seems to be the way they're going to stay (I did hear that St. Anger was better...can anyone confirm this for me?). I'm getting sidetracked...you say you still love the self-titled and Iowa albums. Well in that case, I think by saying that you don't like them anymore is untrue. In your case I'd say enjoy what you like about them, and hope for a return to their earlier form.

Regarding Vol. 3: I, too, was disappointed at first by the album, especially compared to Iowa, which I feel is their best effort. It took me some time to get into it. But I think there's a lot to be said for it. For one, Corey's showing off his singing ability more, and it works for me. Further, the songwriting is more complex and it shows a lot more depth to the group as a whole. I think there's a cohesion to both the music and the album as a whole which shows that the band is coming more fully into their own. There's still plenty of pure ass-kicking as well, which of course I prefer a la Pulse of the Maggots, Welcome, Three Nil, etc. But the thing that really made me appreciate this album was something which a friend pointed out to me. That is, this is the first Slipknot album which tells a story. Not a traditional narrative, mind you, but rather the music follows a path which, when listened to in its entirety in order, takes you from one point to another until the end, which in my interpretation is the point at which you entered.

Holy shit, I've written a lot. Anyway, I hope you come back to actually read this (as well as everyone else) and think about it. Maybe I can change your mind, maybe not. But I hope at least it'll change the way you think about both Slipknot and the way you listen to music, if only a little.

I'm still [sic], through and through. HAIL SATAN! ;)

New Slipknot news. New Slipknot news. Corey Taylor may be forming with a new band, Chris has new plans of his own, and other members are unknown of there future. This may be the end of Slipknot as we know it. No! Ahh, it was a good time, with the self titled album, Iowa, and the not so great Vol. 3, only had like 4 or 5 good songs. Well, you'l have to see for yourself on black-goat , all the information is there. and by the way, this is viciousdave, I now go under the name of Killknot.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions just yet. I mean, there were rumors flying around after Iowa that that was going to be the last. Moreover, Corey already did a stint with Stone Sour, Joey did Murderdolls, Sid did his DJ bit as Starscream, and so on. I'm sure there's more that I don't know about as well. Then again, Clown has always said that Slipknot would probably destroy itself if they stayed together for too long anyway. Who knows? Only time will tell.

Bullshit. Shawn just wants time for for his side project "To My Surprise", and Corey and James for "Stone Sour".
Both bands are gonna have a new album summer 2006.
As for Joey, I doubt Murderdolls will ever be continued. And Sid will probably be continuing on his DJ Starscream for a while too.

Also, they promised another album. I have faith in them and I do believe there will be another album.

Well, as you know Clown, or by his real name Shawn, he created Slipknot way back in 1999 or something like that. Yes, Slipknot does need time apart, with all the touring they have just done, they are getting pretty tired of being with only each other all the time. I know Slipknot will take a break for maybe a year or so, and than pick up where they left off and come back with a great single or two.
