NO guns, knives, stupid shit.
Failure should push you until success can pull you.
Lots of condoms.
Laptop.
If you smoke, lots of cigarettes.
Ibruprofen for hangovers.
Sleeping bag, cause duvets suck after a while, trust me.

Both are necessary if you want to succeed in getting chicks. Trust me.

Food, a laptop, an Ethernet cord (college wireless internet sucks, trust me), bedding, clothes that you wear, hangers, an iron and ironing board (if you iron your clothes), Power Strips/Surge Protectors (if your school allows it), a TV and cable, A CELL PHONE, an alarm clock, a portable laundry bag (and detergent and stuff if your dorms are like mine), bath towels, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, a pack of toothbrushes and toothpaste, a mini vacuum or broom, a trash can, some all-purpose cleaner, a plunger and toilet brush, AN UMBRELLA (for walking to class on rainy days).
I don't know if your room comes with a kitchen or not mine does but if yours doesn't then get a microwave and stuff.
Pick up a puppy on the way out of town. Make sure it is a small bread (Pug is your best bet). And at college flaunt it around. Women will migrate towards you and you can glean off the cuteness of the dog.

I was actually debating bringing an ethernet cable so kudos on the good advice ;)

Invest in a minifridge.
Unless you're in a house or something. Even then not a bad idea for your room.

If you ever plan to sleep, ear plugs.
Seriously. Best investment I ever made. Got fuck all sleep during my first few weeks at uni, picked them up, and had no problems from there on in.
That's only if you're in halls or something, though. If you're just sharing with friends it shouldn't matter.
Depends, are you going to college to learn?
Or are you going to party?

Considering I am investing a good deal of money and time, I am going to learn. Also to the virginity comment: I actually have that :)

It's highly possible (and even recommended) to do both, and to do both well :)

Well, I don't know much about partying.
By that I mean I've never been to a party in my life, including high school ones.

I am rather introverted and prefer to have just a couple of people around me. But I will surely have fun :)
