Upon reading a few threads in the General forum and many threads and articles on other sites, I have come to this conclusion. Our collective goose is cooked.
ACTA plans to silence any potential government critics by falsely accusing (potential) dissidents of copyright infringement.
The CDC and AAP are prepared to issue a declaration mandating circumcision for all boys at birth.
The Obama administration and Monsanto are actively working to put poisons in our food supply.
Underregulated pharmaceuticals and sadistic medical practices run rampant in our health care system.

I'm overwhelmed by it all. Worst of all, I have nowhere to seek refuge. Should I just kill myself? (I know some people would want me to do so.) Or is there hope? (I doubt it.)

Here, there is pressure from the medical industry to keep the knives and skins flying and the cash flowing. For almost a year now, there has been talk that the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) will issue a statement recommending that all baby boys be circumcised at birth to prevent HIV/AIDS, in response to a set of studies I'm sure everyone here has heard about at one time or another.

Obama administration won't poison our food and farmaceutical companies will cure cancer using legitimate research, possibly involving genetic manipulation and surely animals will be needed, though.

But before that, they'll shoot us up with mercury, squalene, formaldehyde, antifreeze, aluminum, peanut oil, MSG, monkey kidneys, pig viruses and aborted fetuses and claim it'll ward off every disease known to man.

What exactly do you base these allegations on? Do you have reliable sources that confirm any of your hypotheses?
I know there is a debate about the benefits of circumcision, but I thought the "circumcision doesn't do anything" idea was winning by far. I sincerely doubt so many medical specialists agree that circumcision is necessary to fight HIV and to get a bill like that passed, you should have practically full support.

1. Stop believing in conspiracies and crackpot conspiracy theorists, there is a reason why few people ever believe their stories.
2. Go outside and play with others.
3. Maybe lay off the diet sodas, I heard they make people go crazy later in life, and so on.

Yeah, I got this sometimes by sceptics of vaccination, who show a list of stuff they use to distil the vaccine and how several ingredients are unhealthy on their own.
I'm still naive enough to assume that until I have done chemical and medical research to know whether these ingredients just look bad or whether they are actually dangerous.

I trust the fact that you can't really draw conclusions if you don't know how biochemistry really works.

Hello. Over the years I have become more natural-minded.
You're right; there are people who go overboard with natural remedies and end up hurting themselves. With any sort of medication, be it natural or artificial, you have to be careful because the excessive use of certain ingredients can prove disastrous. Just because it grows in the ground doesn't mean it can't cause trouble; for example, kava-kava, a plant once recommended by naturopaths as a Tylenol substitute can cause liver damage if used on children.

Calm down. Whilst it is true that there are an awful lot of bits of bad news out there, there is a lot of good news too. If you only stop and see how far we have come...

1. At least you CAN talk about these problems. A few generations ago, most people couldn't write; only a few people could get published in any form; most women could not get themselves heard anywhere.

2. Blair published his book today, but attempts to wash over the fact that the war was supposed to be about WMD are continuing to fail- his legacy is likely to remain that of a murderer despite coverup efforts. Again, we HAVE a voice!

3. When I was young the assumption was that circumcision was healthy- in the UK that is WAY forgotten- nobody is under any such pressure outside of religions. I am sorry to hear that the issue is raising its ugly head in the US, but it will pass.

4. I read the latest edition of New Internationalist today- read it, despite explaining how the likes of Monsanto control so much of our food seeds, it tells about great hopes and ideas coming from India etc. about keeping them at bay and improving the genetic diversity of crops. Via Campesina is great and gaining ground in awareness of alternative POV in these issues.

5. In the UK, people are growing more of their own food every year- I work in a shop that sells more and more plants and seeds to do so- massive increases in interest in Grow Your Own, with an increased market share and availability of Organic products. Join them, even if its just a window box!

Life is for living- I tried to suicide once- forget it! I learned to get out and DO. I help with charities, I write, I create, I explore the world around me-
Yesterday I ate my first Amethyst Decievers- after a fungal foray with my girlfriend and a good Mushroom & toadstool book- no chemicals, no Monsanto, just little purple toadstools, fried in butter.

Nobody will live for ever, but generations of good people fought for you and I to be as free as we are and have the chances to do what we can do. Teach people good things, but don't lecture so hard that they won't listen.

I wish Lisa and I could reach out and hug you, but the carbon miles kinda puts me off!
