Can't remember the name of a game

Its a PS1 game that I loved but can't remember the name of.
It had a huge(for its time anyway) open game world and you
entered different areas(Graveyards, Dungeons, Temples)
where you would solve puzzles and stuff and at the end of
each area there was a boss and a new item(eg. Hammer)
that would help you in the next stage.

It had a top-down view and your health was measured in peaches.

Any ideas?

By the way, its not Zelda, though the gameplay was very similar

I think the main bad guy was called Darkness King, other than that, no.
