Why did Valve ever have to add those damn hats to TF2? All it is now when a new game is coming out is hats.
"Portal 2 coming out? LOLOL COMPANION CUBE HAT NAOS VALVE!"
"HL2 EP3? HEAWDCRAPS HAT PLS!!!111"
Also, the only reason people are getting good games like Worms Reloaded is to get the damn soldier hat for TF2. Worms is probably going to have 30,000 preorders from TF2, and about 26,000 of them are going to pre-order just for the hat it gives.
Anytime I try to have a serious discussion about TF2 in the Steam forums, it turns into a discussion about hats.
I miss when people used to talk about the actual game, and not the stupid hats.
I made a thread accusing Team Fortress 2 of ripping off Halo.
Almost 100 replies before it got deleted.
True story...

Yeah, put more effort into your troll threads next time.
And yeah, hats are fucking retarded, went from being Team Fortress 2 to Silly Hats: The Game.
It's only the forums, mostly.
Unless you play in servers full of retards.
I have a hat and I completely forget I have it.
What they should do with hats to FIX the hats while keeping them is make ALL the hats (except for the exclusives like the Worms stuff) available for everyone from the start, same for weapons. There's no fucking point not to do it like that.
Trading and crafting are not a fix.
The hats are for promotions. You get a game on Steam and you'll get this silly hat. Most hats in TF2 require you to unlock them by playing TF2. The hat promos would actually benefit Valve and the developer. If you were a smart gamer you would know that buying a game only for an object in another game is a waste of money. It's a way to get exposure for a game with minimal advertising. If it weren't for those promotions, not a lot of people would have known about the game, thus less people buying it, and less money for Valve.
28,000 of 30,000 copies of the game for the sole purpose of getting a hat is a huge exaggeration. I couldn't care less whether you used default headgear or not, since I would play for the fun, not the material.
Also, I visited the forums, and it looks pretty normal. I saw three threads talking about Worms, among these were one about TF2's hat describing contest.
Well, I'm pretty sure that when Alien Swarm came out, and when the dev's of Alien Swarm added an unlockable TF2 hat, things got a little crazy. But I think the buzz over Alien Swarm died down, people have the hat, and as far as I know, it's just cosmetic. There's no real bonus to a "Parasite Hat."
How about you join the NGPD? Just what is the Newgrounds Police Dept.? Click the link and find out for yourself!
It's reasons like this that make me wish hats were never implemented in TF2. I bet if they were never added in the first place, no-one would have any thoughts on hats in TF2. I've lurked on the Valve forums many times before, especially TF2 sub-forum and I usually notice chaos whenever a unique item is released for TF2. The worst I saw was everyone complaining about Earbuds being exclusive to Mac players as well as the misleading information on dominating those wearing Earbuds in order to get them yourself.
I was one of those who did get Worms Reloaded but I intend to play that game sometime (as well as 100 other games I still need to play). For games like Portal 2 or HL2: Episode 3, I could care less if they don't add any special items for TF2 if you pre-order them. I never pre-ordered L4D2 to get Bill's Hat and I don't care if I'll never have the chance to get it. If they do add something, I'll appreciate the little bonus they provide but we're not missing out on anything if they don't add any silly hats for them.
The hats have no affect on stats whatsoever, they're just for show and fashion don't really have a problem with the hats, In fact, I like getting hats, but I don't care about collecting hats at the same time.
There's lots of threads about hats because, oh I don't know, there's a contest going on right now.
I find this thread to be kind of ironic. Anyway...
I don't go to the SPUF forums, because, the SPUF forums are stupid as fuck. As far as in game goes, the hat-fad (at least in the servers I reg in) has died. You got a hat? Cool. It's not a big thing, or anything. I just play the game, I don't really care if others are obsessing about hats or not, that doesn't really effect me.
You're all idiots. Team fortress 2 isn't a FPS with hats tacked on, It's a Hat Simulator with FPS elements tacked on.
"Sir, we are surrounded!"
"Excellent, we can attack in any direction!"
I cant wait till we can change our suits/outfits
I wanna heavy in a big pink tutu
