Meanwhile, the OP has a good point with ActRaiser, it was indeed a really good game, but I wouldn't say the best.
For my choice I'd have to go with Super Metroid; shit was so fun and epic.

Congratulations, you win this thread. I couldn't stop laughing...
I can't tell if you're joking, because you never use emoticons. ~ SolidToad
I like how Blaze compared us sharing our favorite "games of old" to something evil that he must stop. Dude its the fuckin internet, if you see something you don't like, maybe you shouldn't click on it. Its not like you go into a pet store and everyone is raping kittens and is all like "Hey dude, if you don't like the show don't watch." We are just chatting about how fucking awesome the SNES is and our favorite games on it. Your a fuckin chode with no job. You spend your free time fighting injustice everywhere. Because you are... dun dun dun... A NOBODY. lol No I am kidding, nobody gives a fuck about you crying about shit because you are probably a little boy or some shit, but I'd make some snarky remarks anyways.

Looks like a Mario Kart rip off. Even the stage is similar to levels in mario kart.
No one metioned Super Mario RPG?

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Awesome, epic game from the very beginning to the very end.
Super Mario RPG was also pretty good, but it had some drab moments.

I hate nostalgia glasses more than anyone, I was just starting genuine discussion about good games on a good system. Now, to appease Jercurpac I'll elaborate on my reasons. Aside from playing great, looking great and sounding great; things we already know about the game, there's also the fact that o, the abundance of HTML there was not overkill.
It's not that I'm a very religious man (in fact, I'm not at all), but there's a certain appeal to the concept of God inhabiting a statue for the soul purpose of handing out ass-kickings to all the evils of the world personally. Of course I also get a smug sense of satisfaction from everyone turning away from religion at the end of the game because they can handle things themselves, a lesson many people could stand to learn...

Also endorse this.
I've I had to pick three (too hard to pick just one)
Star Wing (Starfox for everyone else)
Super Mario World
Although they're pretty different, Super Metroid and Earthbound are my personal favorites. There are so many top-notch games on the system, but these two just... I don't even know.

The DKC TRILOGY
I would acknowledge Earthbound if it was not known for Super Smash Brothers.
Most of the Square Rpgs on the snes seem to be good along with Enix
Earthbound wasnt "known" because of Super Smash Bros.
People who actually were alive during the time had the game, and it had a cult following long before that, and still has a huge cult following that went to the trouble to translate the entire game Mother 3 by themselves.
Fire Emblem was the one that became popular because of SSB.
On topic, DKC 1 & 2 were really good SNES games, some of the best.
