I am watching Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe right now, and just realized....

He has never worked with a garbage man.....

Ya, i remember him doing a whole episode on trash, picking it up off of the street, and how it was handled back at the plant, but I cant be arsed to find you any proof, sorry OP.

It depends on what type of roofing you do. Tin roofing looks pretty hard, but I've never had any experience with it. Hot tar roofing is fairly hard work. Roofing houses is fairly easy once you get the hang of how to align the shingles. The hardest part of roofing is the heat. Its at least 10 degrees hotter up there.

Even if he hasn't (I'm sure he has), being a garbage man isn't a terribly dirty job compared to the others he does. All the trash is in black and white bags and once you throw it in the truck you never see it again.

If not messy, then just tedious is people don't know how to use a trash bag.

Some garbage is rather nasty or hazardous, and trash bags, if they're used, aren't always secure or sealed, they can break and sharp objects can pierce the sack (and you). Also working in the landfill must be pretty awful and perilous. I'm personally not too fond disease or injury at a job.

I was watching Dirty Jobs once and realized that half of the jobs he does are not dirty. He tries to make them appear to be dirty by going out of his way to create unnecessary situations.
