God damm sween, could you lay off your harcore debating for a minute and actually give an opinion? At first your hard head was mildly entertaining, but now its just plain old aggravating.

Please stop ruining threads with your "give me a rebuttal" and "you're wrong".

The threads in this forum are already ruined, they were ruined before I even came to this forum. No thread has ended with people coming to a civil agreement, because everyone is constantly changing the topic and making claims with no backing.

Oh, and I might add, HE was the one that said "you're wrong", dumbass.

Might I point out that half of your posts have "you're wrong" in them at least once.

You might, but then that would be a lie. I haven't even said that once in this thread.

I said either by "give me a rebuttall" (wich you have said) or "your'e wrong" (wich you haven't said but usually pounce on the occasion to use it). Now, shut up and stop trying to debate over anything and everything. If I keep replying to what you say, this may never stop.

If there is an occasion to use it, doesn't that imply it is appropriate to use?

Now, shut up and stop trying to debate over anything and everything. If I keep replying to what you say, this may never stop.

Then why don't you "shut up".

He's talking about all the perfectly good threads you ruin with your bickering. It's not enough to disprove someone else's point, you have to have one of your own. Which you never do. Ever.

However, I'll concede in this case the guy just had it in for the Japanese. Yeah, they did bad stuff, but all the people who did it are dead now. We can't hold children responsible for the sins of their fathers.

It's nearly impossible to not have a point when trying to disprove another person's point. And isn't the entire point of debate for everyone to come out knowing more than they came in with? Why should having a point matter, if anything not having a point is better, because you aren't biased by anything.

Yet, they don't despise the japanese for bombing Pearl Harbor, mostly because they are the gods of technological materialism.

Well, yeah. Most of us Americans are greedy slobs. We can usually learn to forgive and forget, but it helps if you try and appease our egos while doing so. They are very polite, and they have the most efficient work force on the planet.

As to the popularity issue:
Japan:
Nintendo, Manga/Anime, variouse car companies... the list goes on and on. Not to mentuion the whole 'exotic farway land' thing. Ninjas, naginatas, shuriken, futons... Not an impressive list to Anime fans, but to the average person...

France:
Um... froglegs. And snails. Cool architecture, but really, how many people are interested in that? (Other than me.) I agree with the whole 'Why are the french always brought up in WWII?' thing, but you have to admit, the Japanese are a much more facinating culture.

As for the US hating France... if you go back and look at many of the movies from the 50s, the impression you'll probably get is that France was viewed as a very romantic country. Exotic and good. This modern loathing seems kinda recent to me. The stereotype of rudeness is part of it, sure. But the political reasons seem to be the huge datapoint.

As for the love for Japan... back in the 80s, the US wasn't doing so well economically, and the Japanese seemed to be doing great. There was a huge movement of Japanese businesses investing and outright buying things in the US. Note that Columbia Pictures and TriStar Pictures used to be purely US companies, but were bought by Sony. Rockefeller Center in NYC was bought up too, if I recall correctly.

Stuff like that made US businesspeople look to Japan for business advice, and there was a huge amount of books published about "Japanese corporate philosophy." There was even a corporation that required its managers to all read The Art of War.

Of course, both economies are now doing pretty badly, if only in comparison to their peaks.

So that kind of respect probably trickles down to all levels.

That obviously is not the truth, but your sentiment is noted. I bet someone out there likes us. Now what does this add to the topic of what americans think of other national groups.

Isn't your narrow, railroaded, pricky little bitch brain aware that I have, actually, given you the rebuttal that you BEG for? It's just not something you can hope for, and try and whitewash away with the regulation bullshit, so you have to act in your usual, pic-ignorant manner?

Besides, does this count as a rebuttal:
"That's some post you got there, doesn't seem to be saying anything in particular though....
"
?

No? Well then, it appears that you are your usual self. Or, as most people call it, a fucking moron.
