I was just reading some of Maddox's old stuff and stumbled upon his nerd classification rant. After reading the "I wish I was Japanese" nerd descritption it got me thinking; why do so much americans embrace our asian cousins, yet loathe our french ones? Why is it that so much people love the japanese, but hate the french?
Aside from the obvious love for video gaes and all the technological marvels that come out of there, americans don't have much of a reason to like Japanese. After all, they did bomb Pearl Harbor, they were the ennemy during World War II. People always find the excuse that the french were cowards during WWII to despise them, but on the other hand, they love the japaneses who fighted along side Hitler.
I find this totally hypocritical.

Because the Japanese are respectfull and humble, while the French are snooty and pretentious. I thought that was rather obvious.
Anyone who really likes the French must have some sort of self esteem issues.

Or I could just apreciate them for the people they are. Come on people share the love, don't hold onto grudges.

What grudges? Most French are pretentious. What does that have to do with grudges?

Yeah, still doesn't mean that EVERY person from that respective country falls under those descriptions you gave before I edited your quote for a laugh.

First of all, you're a moron. I used those words for a reason, to describe thier culture. Stereotypes are often based on truth, and while not all falls under those descriptions, many do. I challenge you to actually give a rebuttal instead of just changing the quote around and thinking you made some point.

THE FRENCH WONT HELP US. So stupid americans portray stupid acts of patriatism such as Freedom Fries. You know, Technically the French started Nam too. They let Korea go and become communists and America had to go in and kick some ass. Don't get me wrong, I'm no racist, but the French need to depend on themselves instead of worrying about their precious cities. That's why the Japanese are cool, they've given us Nintendo, Pokemon, Tamagachi, GUITAROO MAN, Zelda, Computers, ANIME and MANGA and so much more(can't forget the pillows) ! WHERES THE BEEF NOW!!??

Computers?
If you're using a Mac, the Macintosh company was made by Steve Jobs (american)
If you're using Windows, the Microsoft Company was made by Bill Gates (american)
Computers=Chips, design, technology.
Americans=everybody these days?
You bring up a good point popenfresh, my guess is Japanese culture was really exported to America right after WWII when their exports were cheap as dirt. Add to that the martial arts craze of the 70s. Then Japan's exports of cheap TVS became exports of high-tech semi-expensive TVS and video games and I'm guessing it just got stronger from there.
But Japan and Asia in general were always romanticized by the West as opposed to France because the French are exactly like us and Japan always was considered exotic ever since the 1700s and made all us white boys curious about their culture: Ninjas, Samurais, geishas, etc.

Alot of you have missed the fact that I tried to point out that is americans hate the french because of something they supposedly did in WWII. Yet, they don't despise the japanese for bombing Pearl Harbor, mostly because they are the gods of technological materialism.

Americans hate the french because we are for the most part the descendants of people from the british isles (who hate the french because of the Hundred Years War), and Germany (who hate the french because they have to eat sauerkraut instead of cheese, and beer instead of wine).
I personally don't hate the french people, just their government policy. But I DO LOVE kicking frogs!!

Because 2,000 years of "For God so loved the world" doesn't trump 1.2 million years of "Survival of the Fittest."

That's because logic is a jingoist's worst enemy. The French were just a scapegoat and they had to demonize them somehow.

That's such a stereotypical view on stereotypes, jeez, if you'd actually take the time to examine all of them, instead of making blanket statements, maybe you'd realize the truth.

"all crack addicts are worthless bums"
It's a stereotype. It has a basis in truth. After all, if you smoke crack every 15 minutes, you don't have any money or time to work, do you?

Stereotypes are exgerations. You take a common characteristic, then inflate it to crazy dimensions. After all, the fat american stereotype isn't totally false.
