Eggatron recomends:
Drawing - Freehand by Macromedia (V10 just came out, try the demo)
Fucking shit up - Photshop by Adobe (V6 has been out a while now, there should still be a demo)
i use flash to edit pictures, i find it to be easy and since it's free the price is right, but it is somewhat hard to figure it out right. and if your really despirate try paint, just as long as you can save it as a jpeg, if you want to use it on the internet

Paint Shop Pro, hands down. Photoshop sucks.

No. Photoshop is good, lens flares are bad.....
i'm a bitmap person through and through, so i can only say Photoshop. PSP is good and easy but the results are a bit crappy and after u get used to Photoshop u'll find it a lot more flexible.
as for vector stuff i'm clueless. tho i have been using Flash to trace some drawings (as seen below) if Freehand would get the Brush tool i'd be sorted.
i've heard that Adobe's Illustrator is good and can export to flash.
Like my new painting? Its not really paint, though...its all ink.

I hate those lens flares. For some reason, everytime I see one I feel like punching someone. It's some sort of anger rush for me...
