Need a pixel program!

I would want to have a program for making some pixel animation, like old mario games and stuff like that. Does anyone know something that could let me do that? And can it be free?

Well photoshop has a pencil tool which works quite well, if you made the sprites in there and then put that into flash you could animate with it.

Check out GraphicsGale in it you can make pixel art but for making animations you'd have to buy the full version which is actually really cheap.

Well, there are probably several options but I'd recommend using GraphicsGale.
If you're using it in a flash though, I'd install the pixel plugin for flash. (can be found here among other extensions)

Also, if you haven't got flash, or for some reason can't download programs, MS Paint also works for pixel art. It's just a tad more difficult to do stuff like animating and such.

Pixel tool works prett well with flash, but the erase tool sometimes acts up. Causes Flash to crash. But hey, what the heck.. the guy who programmed it gave it up for free!
