I agree with you, OP.

It has also been a massive influence with sites like 4chan, as well as fanboys when it comes to any form of media. It's quite saddening when I personally provide good examples and good points only to be discarded as a troll when they have no means of countering my argument

You know what would be really neat? These things actually being noticeable.
