I might try to plan a trip down there with a buddy of mine for part of the day... Most likely the cosmic bowling and the bar.

Moving myself from "maybe" to "most likely".
Anyone want to share a shady 2 bed bedroom with me for the weekend?

Well, originally I asked Evark if he wants to but he told me he might not go so if you're certain you'll go, I'll bunk with you. Look on the bright side, you don't have to do the whole awkward introduction. :P

If you don't want to, then I'm back to square one.

I mean he's uncertain if he's going and I know for certain I'm going so I want to find someone who is most likely going.

That'd be cool! What's your budget?
Also, I need to wait to see if Ramcees is coming or not before planning hotel rooms and everything.

He better make it :D

Also my budget for hotel room is I'll pay up to 80 a night, maybe 100 if I can fit it in. Is that fine?

We could do a day trip to the Steamwhistle brewery. It costs about 10-25$ depending on what level of tour you take and they hand you a six pack on the way out.

Put me down as a strong probably right now - even if I have a cross country race the only reason I wouldn't be able to make it is if it's out of country.

I live about 45 minutes south (like Chrom) in Hamilton - and I don't even know if I would get a hotel room in Toronto. I'd almost be willing to crash on a bench or in a bus station until I can get home on Sunday. Oh well - lots to think about until then. I'd almost be willing to offer up a couch or two of my own if my 8 housemates think you're cool enough to hang.

BEER. Microbrewery BEER. YES.
I'm in for this and I don't mind paying as much as 25$ if I leave with a six-pack :P

I went to this about 3 weeks ago. it's pretty cool. The beer isn't so bad... this coming from a guy that doesn't really like beer.

And I got a bottle opener from the tour. :)

Cost me 10$

And why are you not going Etienne?

Oh, don't give up just yet, young man. It's possible to score free accommodations at these things sometimes, and I've heard talk of a Montreal carpool. It might be in the cards for you yet.

I'm not sure if the rides part of wonderland will be open anymore at that date neways - it might just be the haunted house portion - I don't recall offhand how long the rides last until..

If it's coming all the way from BC then I would like to take a ride.

Now I could start one myself, but my car is in such bad shape it could break down half way there.

I'm thinking about going Greyhound because it's cheaper than flying.

I think that we can rule out Wonderland for a few reasons at this point. The temperature did take a pretty big drop this weekend, it's expensive, it's far from central, and a few people have said that they probably can't make it if it's there.

That said, I reckon we should solidify plans this week, as people are starting to ask for an itinerary of sorts. As mamatequila said, drinking will be the obvious plan for the evening, and details will be left flexible. However, we need to settle on a plan for the daytime. It seems that money is a substantial concern at this meet, so I guess we'll have to give the free/cheap options special consideration.

Here are some reminders of such options:
From Ennui - Hockey Hall of Fame, Ontario Science Centre, Lower Bay abandoned subway platform, Art Gallery of Ontario, and the chain of islands
From me - The harbourfront, the distillery district, Chinatown, Kensington Market (Little Third World), and the Eaton Centre area

Feel free to google anything that sounds interesting to you. Throw in your thoughts and us Toronto folks and meet organizers will make a final decision by this coming Friday.

PS - broke my arm, I'll be in a sling at the meet D:

Put Chrispington and I down as a maybe. I'm kinda busy with school, but as long as Ramcees is going (and I'm assuming driving), Chris would go.

I'm just glad that another Canadian city will experience the pain of organizing one of these meet-ups.

My 2 cents:
DO NOT GO TO THE CN TOWER! It will only lead to disappointment. It's quite expensive too.
Science museum is awesome, but in lage groups would be a nightmare.

Maniacal children land! especially if it's a weekend when they're all out and about. I went last time I was in toronto and there were thousands of screaming children breaking all the science.

Everything else sounds sweet except I had only a slim interest in hockey.

Here is my thoughts on what we should do:

Friday - Meet up at 3-5PM at a park. Possibly Grange or Alexandra Park. Then from there we can choose to go to a place to finish off the night.

Saturday - 11-12am Meet back at the park then head to Chinatown. We can explore there for a few hours then head to the Art Gallery of Ontario, Hockey Hall of Fame and the Eaton center depending on how long we spend at each thing. Then the 19+ users can all go hang out at some bar that is close to the hotels so everyone can make it home safe.

Sunday - For anyone staying, we could go to the Ontario Science Center and hang out there and explore all that stuff. Then from there we can go to the docks or the abandoned Subway platform. After that we can find something else to do or depending on time we can all go to a bar or restaurant depending on how everyone feels.

Monday - I doubt anyone is actually going to want to stay but if people do, I will stay too. We can take Monday on when the meet comes and see what happens.

That is what could happen. Most of the places aren't too far out from each other so it wouldn't be much to travel. If anyone has better ideas or places to go then please post as this is only one person's opinion. :D
