Put me down as a maybe. Whether I go or not will largely depend on how much financial assistance I get when it comes to hotels, and whether I achieve my objective in getting a relatively good and stable job sometime in the next several weeks. Who's down with helping me deal with the cost of rooming?

The daytime portion of the Saturday meet is open to all ages. When we scuttle off to a beverage house, the young ones may have to find their way home though.

While I trust your judgment and welcome any recommendations, I doubt we'll be making it out to the west end. To justify hauling the entire group somewhere far, we'd need the destination to be pivotal to the day as a whole.

Alright, I've put together a list of the potential attendees thus far. If you're interested and you don't see your name on here, or if you feel you've been lumped into the wrong category, let me know.

I really like the Brewery District. There is a place, I think it's the Mill Street Brewery, that gives away free drinks (you taste like 5 different beers and have to tip the person that gives you it a little bit) but I don't know if you could have a gigantic group do that.

I'm not fussy about what we do but I enjoy the words 'cheap' and 'free'.

This makes it sound extremely sure that I'm going but I won't confirm until tickets are in hand.

I think meetups should be kept to drinking age +
( so 19 for this one )

I mean that's my opinion but meets are getting more and more popular these days and groups are starting to get huge and hard to manage so I think this is a fair way to keep the size limited while ensuring everyone can stick together.

I also propose this activity: eating pizza.

I second this motion. Also, I completely agree with the pizza thing. Nothing like a good fucking pizza before or after drinking... HELL even WHILE drinking! :D

I'm still coming. I don't care if I'll be 18, I'm still gonna drink.

Also, a friend is going to his aunt's wedding in Ontario, so I'll definatly coming down. How much money should I bring if i'm looking to spend 2 weeks doing fun shit?

as much as you possibly can :

and Tropical that doesn't surprise me - with you being a women and all .. nyuk nyuk nyuk..

and Sniper pizzas are for eating, not for fucking :P

also Mike better come - it's just not a sexy meet without Mike.

also Milkman Dan is a mayybe as well. There is also the hockey hall of fame in toronto for those that are sportily inclined.

there is also some great fashion places to shop at in the bloor /yorkville area and Hazelton Lanes - for those that like to shop :P

there is also ontario place - which is open until the fall, and Cinesphere, home to the world's first permanent IMAX theatre..

aand there's the ferry, the toronto islands and the harbourfront too.

2 months prior is kinda late, dont ya think? i mean, most meets are announced 5 or 6 months prior so everyone can save up and clear schedules and so on.

I'm kinda in favor of the age limit, but at the same time I've never been to a free for all meet (like the London one I believe?), so I don't really care. The kids will just be unable to follow the adults to the cool places, I guess.

I think the age limit will even itself out. Those who can come will all go to the meet and those who can drink will all just go to a bar. So you only have to have the big groups during the day, then the drinkers go off and have their drinking fun.

Hmm, such short notice!

Round trip flights from $318... Hotel rooms starting at $69/night. Anybody wanna split a hotel? I can't be anything more than tentative at this point (passport needs to get renewed).

If I drive, it's 4 tanks of gas and a combined 22 hours of driving. $200 for gas... yea flying's the only option.

Hmm. Hmm.

I'm in. Funny, this meet-up is in the same month as the city's municipal election. (There will be a new mayor.) I'm cool with the original suggestions. We can also visit the Hockey Hall of Fame, Ontario Science Centre, Lower Bay abandoned subway platform, Art Gallery of Ontario, and the chain of islands. I just have two questions: Are we allowed to bring a friend and is this only for one day?

I'll split with you, I live right outside of Toronto so the only thing I'd need is a hotel room. You up for it?

It's later than preferred, I agree. The idea just kinda came back to life and back into demand at the Montreal meet, and we don't want to edge any closer to the winter. Two months seemed like enough notice for virtually any employer.

Bahaha, everything is going according to plan. But no seriously, that's a bummer. Would have been good to have you here. Another time, I suppose.

Evark

Yeah, it'd be wise for people who know each other or who are willing to trust some fellow Newgrounders to pool together some accommodation plans. Such a waste to rent a hotel room to oneself.

Ennui

Some more good ideas, thanks. Bringing friends is fine, as long as they can account for themselves and aren't known to be horrific shit-disturbers.

Vidaria

We'll get something of an itinerary closer to the fact, new ideas are still coming in, so we'll have to put the lot of them to a vote at some point in the near future. Even then, the itinerary will be a bit loose. If there's one thing that the past meets have taught us, it's that a group this size cannot work on an hour-by-hour schedule, and reservations are - to be blunt - a clusterfuck. Without fail, some people won't show. Without fail, some people won't pay. Flying by the seat of our pants isn't ideal, but unfortunately we'll have to keep plans flexible.

There's a decent hostel not for far from the train station. Only 20 bucks a night as I remember.

The official part is just on the Saturday. I'm sure a number of people will be around on Friday and Sunday as well, though. Hell, a bunch of us live right in Toronto, and I'm sure that the people flying in from further away won't want to do so for just one night. That said, the catch is that there's not going to be any concrete plan or central organization for the non-meet days. People will be putting plans and groups together at their own leisure. I'll be around all weekend, and can offer up suggestions for on-the-fly plans, and I'll be a part of as much as I can on those other days.

Thanks. I'm willing to join in on Friday and Sunday since it's likely that plans will be made, as you said. This is definitely exciting.

As much as I wanted to see New York, Toronto would be a lot cheaper, and probably crazier too.
Working on it, so put me up as a "maybe".

I pretty much added the confirmed and probablys from the list earlier in this thread. The maybe's can wait until they are more confident.

Thanks Luis, you always make great contributions to meets.

I'm very happy with the attendee list so far, it will be nice to see familiar faces and people who I've always wanted to meet.
