Toronto Meet 2010

Where: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
When: October 9th, 2010
What: The answer to countless people suggesting a meet in the fairest province's capital over the past couple of years. Toronto is big, diverse, affordable, and pretty easy to get to and get around. It also has the greatest concentration of Newgrounds Tanky awards out of any city, so that's uh, gotta be worth something here.

To get the ball rolling in advance, here are some of the possible destinations and timekillers we could throw our rolls of quarters at.

Canada's Wonderland
Huge rides, lots to do, and the date of the meet should grant us weather that's chilly enough to scare away the hordes and their shit-eating kids, but warm enough that no one will lose any fingers. It's a little far out and a touch pricy, but certainly one to consider.

CN Tower
Kind of the quintessential Toronto tourist thing to do. Not a lot of bang for your buck, but someone might want to spearhead a group who wants to go.

Bummin' around the city
This is bound to happen. It's effectively free, and people are bound to wander around at some point. Some points of interest are the harbourfront, the distillery district, Chinatown, Kensington Market (Little Third World), and the Eaton Centre area.

Cosmic Bowling
Like Wonderland, this one is a little further out, and one of the pricier options, but still a damn decent one. There are enough lanes to accommodate huge groups, they serve alcohol, and everyone loves bowling in the dark, right?

A goddamn bar
Suffice it to say that when the sun effs off for the night, every meet is going to culminate in a beverage house of some kind. Depending on the area we'll be in (which in turn depends on highest voted entertainment options for the day), I'll look into reserving space in some of the larger bars in Toronto. For those unaware, drinking age in Ontario is 19.

Any other Torontonians are welcome to toss in other ideas. We've got time to plan, yet. Everyone's responsible for their own sleeping arrangements. I can make recommendations upon request. From everyone else, thoughts on the current ideas are appreciated.

Aaight guys so your pal here chron also lives in ontario - hamilton more accurately - I live about 45 mins away from toronto - If I think youi are cool you are welcome to party at my place - I got a balcony - you can all hand out there - or play some ps3 on my wide screen - orr look at my extensive collection of porn and highly expensive things :P - byob though and I swear if you break everything I will a) make you pay and b) rip your fucking limbs off >:(

Hugh's room venue

an awesome place for venues - it's not cheap - but I've never been disappointed by their setup - great food too - last person I saw there was Andy Mckee - and I nearly crapped my pants when I got to meet him ^_^

also randomly wandering down downtown at night - I highly recommend it. I must warn you though - public transportation closes down like around 1sh am in toronto - so don't get yourself stranded!

In case it isn't obvious I will obviously be going - and I don't mind being second-in-command with NegativeONE for spearheading this - as I've also wanted to do this for a long time - but, well, people pay more attention when a mod makes the thread :P

haha, Alec lives in Virginia. I live about 2 hours outside of Toronto. It's difficult for me to arrange rides and I'm poor, so I'm not sure about this one. I'm also not particularly fond of hanging around some older drunk men from Newgrounds that are most likely not fond of hanging around some younger sober boy from Newgrounds.

Lol I grew up in Toronto and I've always called bacon the real bacon. I never knew some canadians called ham, bacon until I was like 12 or something. Anyways I might be able to come, I might not. I was wondering when a Toronto meet might happen.

I live right in the heart of the city so hopefully I can go. I'll be really busy with school but hopefully I can duck out for a weekend.

I MAY be able to get relatively cheap accommodations for people, my apartment has "guest" suites that I think you can reserve for a fee. I bet they are cheaper than the hotels tho. But NO GUARANTEES YET.

I wouldn't recommend Canada's wonderland but thats just me. If we're looking for a generic bar, there's always the Madison near the Annex. It seems to be the place that my med class likes to organize meet and greets.
