I looked around for more games and found Fire Emblem Path of Riddance. Its a really good game, but I haven't gotten into it yet.
I noticed it was developed by Nintendo so I searched for more RTS games from Nintendo, and I found the best of the best RTS games, Advance Wars. From all the installments until now, I liked Days of Ruin the best, mainly because it is more balanced and winning isnt based on the strongest CO Power. Its also more realistic and its story line is better than any of the other AW games. I also took a look at the Battalion Wars, it is better than Halo Wars but I still like AW best!
I want to play more of these games, they are the best! I don't want RPG suggestions I hate them all except Mega Man Battle Network or Paper Mario series (including Super Star Saga).
Halo Wars is hated by the FPS community because it wasn't an FPS Halo game. Halo Wars is also hated by the RTS community because it required no strategy and was a horrible RTS game.
I like Starcraft because it's simple to pick up.
I'm terrible at micro and macro managing, though.
I've been waiting for RUSE for like 6 months now. Couple more weeks.

I wouldn't know that because I also commented that it was my FIRST RTS game.

ugh how old are you?
I hated Halo wars, mostly cause I thought it would be another FPS and would have made more sense for it to be(in my opinion). If you're really into RTS games, take a look at the Dawn of war games. A friend showed me them a while ago and they're amazing, the only thing I can think of comparing it to would be starcraft. And then there's company of heroes, which is made by the same company and it's focused around WW2.
Shut up already.

I only played Halo Wars because I needed the gamerscore for Halo: Waypoint. But Starcraft II and Command and Conquer 3 are probably the best ones out there. Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 is also good, but it's a little difficult to play online.
STAY AWAY FROM C&C 4 IT IS A CANCER
True story...

Age of Empires 2 is still one of the best RTS's around.
You should totally add me on one of my various game accounts:
360 - Malachi117. Steam - Malachi117. PS3/PS4 - NarcolepticCat.
I understand that you're new to the real-time strategy genre, but I hope you can understand how Advance Wars and Fire Emblem, don't quite qualify as real-time.

I know they don't (especially FE being more of an RPG than anything else), but, they are still heavy on the RTS elements.
I think the one RTS that I've played (and I haven't played many), that really felt like "real-time" has to be Pikmin. Especially toward the end of the 30 days, you really start to value your time and your "troops" because every battle counts at that point.
RTS is best on the PC I find. I'm primarily an 360 gamer, but when it comes to RTS, I pull out my PC. It's also got the best titles of the genre.
Starcraft, Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, and plenty plenty more.

Umm, no they're not. The only qualification for the designation real-time is that the action takes place in real-time. Fire Emblem and Advance Wars are strictly turn-based strategy. They're heavy on elements particular to the strategy genre whether real-time or not and they're fantastic games. As far as the real-time go, not somuch.

Age of Empires 2 is one of the best. It has its flaws but it strangely worked out in the end. It's random mao generator was very powerful and made from an awesome experience every time. My friends and I (back when it had online play) use to play deathmatch, blackforest 3v3 all the time. it was amazingly fun. Even if you were a total idiot, it was very easy to understand deathmatch rules.
Regular mode was slow to me. Most people did a quick castle-age rush to the unique unit + cavalry archer harass and made the game essentialy a 'first to castle wins' scenario.
It is ok to make fun of America. But if you make fun of any other country in a vague or joking way you get banned.
I'm not entirely familiar with the scope of RTS games. I've played a couple on PC, as well as Halo Wars on 360. I like it, I just think it gets flack because RTS fanboys can't get over using a controller for them. To them it's blasphemy and a sin, to put it short. Oh well. Their loss. Or my loss, seeing how they might attack me for saying "Halo Wars is a decent RTS, and I don't mind using a controller for one." Yeah, whatever, take my bloody opinion with a grain of salt.
Again, I haven't played many RTS games to say I'm a fan, nor can I say I hate them. I just haven't been exposed much to PC gamin' "back in the days" because each computer I had until now was a piece of crap. If I gave some time I might find some good RTS games to play. Until then, I'm kinda neutral. To each their own.
If you're into half RTS and half turn based, try out Chrono Trigger. It was originally for the SNES, but it got ported to the DS, which is the version I suggest you get. Chrono Trigger's combat system is a lot like Final Fantasy 7, if you ever played that game.
However, if you're going to try out Chrono Trigger, be aware that it's pretty heavy on the RPG elements. You know, level up your character by fighting monsters to gain stats so you can fight harder monsters.

I actually dislike Final Fantasy. Its too overrated and its not even THAT good. Its annoying having to fight enemies to level up, its time consuming and very repetitive.
RTS games are good. Age of empires will always have a soft spot in my heart :P
However I perfer turn based games. Fire emblem path of radiance is my favorite strategy game EVER!!!! so much fun :) Advance wars is fun too.
I'm loving and tolerating the shit outta you
I love me some Advance Wars on the GBA.
I love RTS games, but only in the campaigns. I can't stand playing team vs team, it ends up just being luck on whether you made the right units to fight the enemy's. Starcraft/warcraft is amazing simply because of custom maps, you can turn an RTS game into pretty much ANYTHING. It was a starcraft that spawned TD games, and that's just an example of whats been made.

As far as RTS games that actually are REAL TIME STRATEGY as opposed to TURN BASED STRATEGY you probably will find that the best are for PC. I really like Warcraft III and it's expansion Warcraft III: the Frozen Throne (even though they're not showing their age particularly well anymore) the Dawn of War series (especially Dark Crusade) and Company of Heroes.
As far as turn based strategy goes; the Final Fantasy Tactics series really is excellent (I know you said you dislike FF, but it's really different than the main roll playing games). There were also quite a few other great TBS games on consoles including Tactics Ogre, Kartia, Disgaea, La Pucelle Tactics and a favorite of mine Phantom Brave... although you will be leveling up your characters, but once you get into them it really isn't a chore. The Heroes of Might and Magic series has had it's ups and downs but it also generally awesome (for PC) and can be mind breakingly difficult.
