3.93 / 5.00 4,634 ViewsI am trying to use the newgrounds preloader and it says in the instructions to copy and paste the movie in the first frame.
I don't know what it really means. I made a flash animation and saved it as two things, a project and .swf.
So when I open up the preloader file in flash, how exactly do I paste my movie on first frame? I tried it once and the whole movie messed up, it didn't even preload it just started going 3 times as fast fps, and no sound.
take the .fla of the preloader, and your movie and open them simultaneously. with them both open, now select the preloader, and copy it and paste it into the first frame of your movie. presto

THANKS MAN, I guess I was doing it backwards!
Whoa it didn't work. All it did was display the newgrounds logo and Play button, but if you press the button nothing happens.
Let me tell you exactly what I did.
I opened them both, which made two tabs. One tab called clpmov(my movie), and one ng preloader.
I copied the first frame of the preloader onto the first frame of my movie.
Sorry, I am really new to flash, give me a little more detail if you can. Thanks!
ok try making a whole scene for your preloader in your movie, and just have one frame to put the preloader. in the newgrounds tab click the symbol and copy it, and paste it into the one frame in the preloader scene in your movie, it should work that way.
I think the problem is you're not copy/pasting correctly. Once you paste the frame, you should see an 'a' in that frame, so if you're just doing ctrl+c and ctrl+v, that's just going to paste the image. You need to right click on the frame, select copy, then right click on the timeline of your movie and select paste. Making a new scene just for the preloader is a good idea because then you won't have to move the whole timeline over one frame just for the preloader. Shift+f2 opens the scene options.
Try putting just a few short scribbles, or a "movie", in a few frames after your preloader frame. It should play and then loop back to the preloader.
This whole thing is twisted.

You should copy the movie clip of the preloader, not the frame.
(just right-click on it, copy it and then paste it anywhere on the first frame)(anywhere you WANT it to be!)
Be sure your using the right actionscript for the right preloader!!!
I just went outside. The grafiks were great, but the gameplay SUKED!!!(It is time to change the actionscript)
It sounds to be that you have no other frames after the preloader itself. Just create a new keyframe after the loader and then a bunch of blank frames to see if it works.
It should make the screen turn white after you press play then return back to the preloader screen if it is working correctly. Make sure you are using the correct actionscript version preloader with the right version of actionscript also.
Try not to make the mistake of copying the AS2 for an AS3 project or vice versa :P
What I do is make Scene 1 in my project, Copy the frame from the Preloader FLA & Paste it on the first frame of Scene 1 of my project.
The movie starts in Scene 2 then :P
