How to disable mouse scrollwheel? 2010-08-19 04:15:05 Reply

It's annoying - I'm moving the mouse gently without being near (within 1/8 inch) the wheel, but suddenly the screen starts scrolling because of the mouse's scroll wheel. What I want to know is how do I disable this? I took the same route I did before, but the feature to auto-detect it is gone (probably from the SP3 update to Windows) and I don't see the option to disable it anymore. How can I disable this or am I going to have to find the rare (very hard to find) optical mouse that doesn't have the scroll wheel?

Goto control panel and then mouse. Click on the hardware tab. click on your mouse in the devices list and select properties. Click on the tab advanced settings, change the wheel detection field to detectio ndisabled, click ok and close everything, restart the pc and see if that worked.
