I'm still fairly new, but I'd find it both immature and self-righteous to think that the "clocks" have any right to "call shots" on Clock Day. Like any publicly celebrated holiday, participation should be welcomed, not shunned. Unless it's demonstration.
Maybe I don't know all the details, but from what I gather, NG is hosting a special day for said "clocks". If anything, I'd imagine a whole fuck load more gratitude, not only for the NG staff (or Tom who had to juggle it all), but for the general NG public who wanted to add to the festivities and donate their time and energy to contributing to Clock Day.
If the pedigree of Clock Submissions really matters that much, then they should really just have their own site ... managed by them.
Sorry if I'm ranting ... clients got me riled this morning...

Clock Day was a little awkward for me this year because I got requests from Clocks to have them provide a list of what should go in the Clock Day collection, because there was a bunch of drama last year about a non-clock making a winning submission, and lots of other non-clocks submitting clock day spam... But I ended up just managing the collection myself anyway.
The event felt like more like a self-contained deal this year, but I think that's regrettable, so it comes down to who calls the shots for Clock Day - active clocks who may not have even been around for B or established NG tradition - and I think next year we should just keep the vibe of making it one big party for everyone. I am in communication with so many clocks that it has become confusing as to who is conflicting with who and who is really representing the majority of active and senior clocks... I need to really get a Clock hierarchy established to manage the confusion in the future and maintain a singular vision for where the Clock Crew is going.
