I found this to be pretty amusing
Basically, when Microsoft can't up-talk their own products, they just bash the other guy! In this case, Apple.
Now i know what you're thinking, "Oh, what about all those mac ads that were like, im a mac, and im a PC, and mac's are better". Well yeah, except in those they typically said "Oh hey PC, did you know mac's come ready to go right out of the box" kind of thing, rather than "oh hey PC, you suck balls"
Either way, that whole site gives me the impression of Microsoft getting scared that Apple is on the rise, do you agree?

I don't see how it is a fail, it's typical marketing ways. Mac and every other competitor does the same thing for their competition.

I just love the English they chose to use for these articles!
"Mac might spoil your fun"
"Macs don't like to share" (OH NOES! :O)
But yeah, I will always use windows. Macs just suck the way they restrict you from accessing key elements used to manually edit your system. (Regedit e.c.t). And besides, being practically virus-free is pretty easy to do on a PC. if you manage to choose the right anti-virus.

Seconded. Their language can be considered fail, however.
Also some of what they're saying is not true. You can customize a Mac to some extent (certain models you can even upgrade the graphics and sound cards and stuff like you would on a PC) and you can share documents between PC and Mac without a hitch in most cases. (Microsoft Office files from 2007 and up don't lose anything in translation IME, and to my knowledge OpenOffice files shouldn't, either. I don't know about iWork, however.)

No its not; every other competitor, including apple, focuses on what their product CAN do, not on what the others can't. I mean, even if they were to reverse the order of it, it'd be wayyy more professional. Instead of "Mac's cant do this, mac's cant do that, pc's can btw" it should be "Pc's are able to ____, ____, mac's can't"
Doing it the way they did, just comes off, well..childish :/

This could get into a nice long debate about that whole thing, but yeah i agree. I'm not a guy who needs to edit his system but I know there are those who do and i'm not fightin ye :) In that sense OMG they totally spoil your fun :P

I've used both systems, I was raised on windows, and when my hard drive crashes while I was doing an online school, I was loaned a Mac to do my work with, It took time to get used to, but I prefer windows only for the fact that I am much more used to it, I only got a virus once, ( A stupid mistake) and both where decent systems.

I regard Microsoft as a whole as one big fail. I only use one to play games, and because I'm too lazy to use a linux.

Oh come on, you don't see the difference between poking fun at a PC in a commercial, and writing on a website "Mac's don't work properly" ?
In those "get a mac" ads, they never insulted PC's, they up-talked Mac's and made it humorous.

I used to be the same way. I was raised on Windows, but over the past 10 years I have witnessed way more crashes, viruses and bugs than I ought to have. On a Mac, I have never had a virus-related problem. I've had my fair share of application crashes and freezes, but at about the same rate I had them on XP and the limited time I've spent on Windows 7. (I now am hesitant to even be associated with people who use PCs, let alone touch one, for fear of retribution by the organizations I support that boycott and protest Microsoft.)

It's funny because they are right - Windows is actually superior to Mac. I used to use Macs but I realized Windows is so much better.

Here are the points brought up throughout the entire "I'm a mac" advertizing campaign
-PC gets viruses
-PC gets spyware
-PC can't be used right out of the box
-PC comes preloaded with trial software
-PC freezes a lot
-PC asks "Are you sure?" a lot
-PC can't make hip videos with iMovie
-PC is being abandon for Macintosh
Points brought up on Microsoft's page
-Mac's don't come with BluRay
-Mac's can't be hooked up directly to a TV
-Mac's can't interact with Xbox 360
-Mac's can't play most games
-Mac's can't run most software
-Mac files aren't compatible with a majority of machines
-Mac has worse photosharing
-Mac can't connect to as many machines as PC
YEP, BIG DIFFERENCE THERE. MICROSOFT IS AN ASSHOLE

Haha these are so useless though, all of those problem only face people who actually don't know how to use a PC at all. I'm using PC with free antivirus and I never have a virus or spyware. My PC _never_ freezes despite being over five years old.

yeah, at least Apple makes cross-platform stuff, Microsoft does everything to prevent cross-platform (poor support for OpenGL after MS released DirectX for example).

That's ironic, considering most hip and crunchy people (at least the ones I've convened with) won't even come within 50 feet of a Starbucks.
Or Wal-Mart, or McDonald's, or anyplace else that most of America takes for granted.

Macs can't connect to Xbox 360 you say?
and a big 'fuck you' to you Microsoft: it's easier than setting up Windows Media Player!
not in 64 bit yet, though

file sharing is also very hard!
get real Microsoft, just because you let everyone who's on the same network peek into a PC doesn't mean that's the right way!

Anyone heard of the idea of "Dancing Bunnies/Pigs Problem?" It basically states that because people don't know, or care to think about computer security, and are so quick to do stupid things like, looking at dancing pigs online, computers need to have preinstalled security systems that are simple enough for the non computer-savvy to use.
Macs are out there for people who aren't so good with computers, which is why they are so popular, since people who are in the popular mainstream usually aren't computer geeks. PC's typically have better processors and RAM and such, and are most often cheaper, since it's easy to market expensive technology to the technological illiterate. Macs don't crash or get viruses, not because they have a high tech or superior security systems. They don't get viruses because not as many people own macs, and therefore, not as many people create viruses that run on them. I'm sure there are viruses for macs out there somewhere, but they are probably hard to find. If more people start buying Macs, a whole slew of Mac "friendly" malware is sure to arise.

not really, I'm a programmer and I have a Mac.
Macs don't crash or get viruses, not because they have a high tech or superior security systems. They don't : get viruses because not as many people own macs.
that's not entirely true, that's one of the reasons but they are more secure.
I'm sure there are viruses for macs out there somewhere, but they are probably hard to find.
not true, there are only a couple of trojans which are not considered viruses because they require a password first.
If more people start buying Macs, a whole slew of Mac "friendly" malware is sure to arise.
true, but it won't happen.
I can see the mainstream using Linux in a couple of years.
if we would divide all users equally over Mac, Windows and Linux now this will happen:
-Games will be shitty on Windows because everyone starts using OpenGL
-Software will be made mainly for Linux and Apple's X11 (because X11 makes software porting from Linux to Mac easier somehow)
-Viruses will have much less impact
-Microsoft will join the Chronos project too
-Microsoft will finally start to support the open web standards

I would much rather pay a customized price for a PC reducing RAM and all, than buy a 2000 dollar mac with specs I don't generally need. Even if I HAD the money to buy a 2000 dollar Mac, I'd still buy a PC. They're easier to customize and use.

Read the rest of the thread or don't bother posting, that argument has been made twice now.

THIS IS NOT AN APPLE VS MICROSOFT THREAD. For christ sakes, i don't give a fuck what you'd rather buy or why.
I was speculating on their method of advertising which to me, seemed childish. Stay on topic.

I agree, PCs have it all... viruses, they eat up more RAM, etc.
