what's the best software to use for making flash animation? I know adobe flash is most popular. But are there any other programs that are better or on the same level? Animators what do you use?

thanks.

The most recent is adobe cs5 I haven't used it yet but I hear its like cs4 except without most of the glitches as well as having the most features (if your animating then it doesn't bring much but if your a programmer stick to the latest version.) I recommend only purchasing cs4 if you can't afford cs5. Cs3 is the fastest and most stable out of the adobe versions and it has more features than 8. Flash 8 was made by Macromedia before it got bought out by adobe, flash 8 is the least bulky and the cheapest but has less features than the above 3.

I heard about all sorts of things from ToonBoom (Adam Phillips the creator of Brackenwood approves.) But I never used ToonBoom so I don't know much about it.

Start with pivot and easytunes, 1 second startup and animating. Flash Cs5 and the others are only for large projects, and I doubt you're going to start with 1 minute animations.

I started with flash when I was 13, I don't see the problem with starting straight off with flash.

By that you mean, can export swfs? If you're going to use it primarily for animating, I'd look into Toon Boom, the previews look really nice. It's like Flash, only for animating, and improved.

I'd suggest Flash, but if you want something more professional go with ToonBoom Animate Pro.

I prefer Flash... but here's a link to a list of alternatives.
