I was wondering what kind of equipment other artists use, and if they have any reccomendations. I'm looking for quality AND longevity, so I'm not expecting it to be cheap. I just don't want to make a mistake on such a big purchase.
When you say sketchpad do you mean a tablet?
Try a wacom bamboo tablet with the pen, it is very good and only 70$

Not trying to kill your mother here...But I find the bamboo fun a bit lacking...I suggest you go for an intuos...My experience says theyre better.
And I'd go for a medium size (A4)...not the smallest one...Well depends on what you like and your PC monitor...But I'd say, the bigger the better.
