It started off being a cool idea but now everyone does it and im like GOD y'all wannabes, making 8 bit games is just showing off, half of them aren't even decent.

To be fair, most flash games have the sort of gameplay that you would find on an 8-bit game, what with the incredibly simple controls, and the fact that they are all 2d, so what's wrong with just making the graphics follow suit? It adds character, as well as taking a hell of a lot longer than just drawing the game.

There are many things I regret, one of them Is asking the above buckfast swilling prick for a sig.
it depends on the game-play, when the gameplay is good, an 8-bit style can be pretty good.
you don't need solely good graphics to make a good game, you need good gameplay, and graphics that aren't shit, just look at some nintendo games as compared to playstation.

Most Flixel games actually opt for 2 or 4 bit. Sometimes, 16 bit.
Its actually rather difficult to find 8-bit games, but the music is typically done in 8-bit.
some are good but some are shit its always like that.

I really prefer vector graphics.
Honestly, I love the 8-bit games. It's phenomenal. How cool would it be to play pseudo-NES games on Newgrounds? There's so many ideas that could have been released in cartridge for the NES, but never came to fruition. I love the old style of video games...not to the point where I'd say they're superior to modern games, but still...the nostalgia is great, to go back and experience the joys of gameplay I had in a bygone era of video gaming.
Plus- the cool thing about Flash NES-esque games...NO BS INVOLVED WITH THE CARTRIDGES! Loads up every single time! It's like magic, I tells ya!
God dammit it is annoying! But yeah it became popular because 8bit games are 20 years old now...And most childrien don't remember them (before you start screaming at me for being 16, I must add that my country was in the soviet union which "lagged" its development and evolution by at least 7 years).
Personally I love it when it's applied in the correct fashion.

I agree. Time to step it up you pussies who are making the games and upgrade to 16 bit graphics.
I dunno. I still enjoy the 8-bit style. It's simple, but it can still display complete images. It's not like Atari graphics were it's all abstract, but it's not polygon work that takes forever.
Plus, it helps gives some games that simple look that helps the player focus on the more important, philosophical elements of the game:
