How would an MW movie work? 2010-07-30 16:48:51

If there would be a movie based the COD: Modern Warfare games, what would it be like? It would have to combine the elements of a war movie and a political thriller. It would also have to be very long, like over 200 minutes. It should also have lots of action and explosions. There should be battles between different countries like US, UK, France, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran. Other fights would involve organizations such as PMCs, insurgencies, terrorist groups, and much more.

Just take the campaigns and put them in a movie. They're short enough to be in a film.

I don't think that your MW movie idea is a bad one, but Israel, Saudi Arabia, China, North Korea, Iran and France have never even been mentioned in the Modern Warfare series.

wait, what? thriller? political... long?
Are we talking about the same modern warfare? The one where the campaign is less than 6 hours long and everything was spray and pray?
The one where the only politics involved was hearing the general say he got a bunch of money?
Do you have any idea of what you're talking about

No, it would be as long as the campaign, which is the length of a movie.

The first one was great, the second one was meh.

A movie that clearly dictates how a war with Russia would be the worst thing that could ever happen to this country? I'd dig it. But the movie would require a good director who has played through the Modern Warfare games. There's enough story to work with already. Or hell, just get the two heads of Infinity Ward to direct it who were fired by Activis-...shit.

Activision still claims rights to Modern Warfare don't they? I kind of doubt there'd be a movie directly based on those games.

I took a section of the rough draft of the script for a MW2 movie in development, as follows.

Ha, a MW Multiplayer movie would be just like that.
Though, that kinda gives me an idea for a flash animation...

It's funny how you think a videogame (with SHIT plot) could make a good movie.

Fuck that, I'd rather see a sequel to Black Hawk Down.

I watch the news every day just in case something happens that would inspire it.

This to the power of five.

MW2's plot melted just about every smart person's brain.

A MW wouldn't really work, it would just come out as a generic war movie that isn't really interesting but not really terrible but just average/mediocre.
Unless they add new stuff to the plot etc. but even then there isn't really anything in Modern Warfare that stands out.

It would be like any other war movie, but done completely in first-person and the pacing won't be limited by the player. Huh, that actually would be interesting to see...

That's almost three and a half hours! Lord of the Rings: Return of the King wasn't even that long.
