I don't see modders anymore these days, but back when Halo 2 was still fresh and they were everywhere on Xbox Live I despised them. I remember my first encounter with one like it were yesterday:
It was Capture the Flag on that one large ice mountain map (haven't played in forever so I forgot the names). Me and a team mate rode out of the base on a Warthog, and over the hill we spotted a tank. Needless to say the tank fired at us, but the thing fired off six rounds a second, basically making it into a machine-gun on steroids. As my corpse flew through the air I managed to spot an enemy player glide across the screen with our flag.
I'd run into other modders later on but none could ever match the sheer unexpected unfairness of that first encounter.
So seriously, if mods are being used on online competitive games instead of private ones then screw them. Screw them all >:(

There's a difference between a modder and a cheater.
You don't have to be rich to be able to mod a game too, all it takes is some tutorials and some practice with the game engine.

Also, multiplayer mod on GTA can be interesting. Multiplayer hacks for CS and MW2 are just fucking annoying cause mostly, they're designed to aid some retarded 12 year old who thinks this means he is TEH MASTA!!!1!!1 LOLOLOOLOLLOL!!!1!!!!1!!!.

Me to, one time i was playin gears of war 2 and some guy was crouching on a corner. so when i tried shooting him, he was eating my bullets like SKITTLES. then i died out of no where.

Nah, I not insulting his skill, I'm saying using mods to speed up kills as an excuse as paper-thin as a piece of toliet paper. Plus, it's fun to rage every now again, and I havent raged in weeks.

Pretty much, considering you need to do a lot more work if you want to mod a console.

Modding is pretty sweet on consoles, because only a few people actually do it in public and don't give a shit if they get banned, unlike in PC games where everyone has some mods on at all times. The old mods for Halo 2 were amazing, because you always wanted to shoot plasma grenades out of a ghost and have a full auto sniper.
