It seems as though everyone here
Is the best damn poet of the year
They go into each others threads
Talking shit like they're the best
I don't give a fuck what you gotta say
If you wana critique go to TMZ ok?
At least we try and we're doing our best
And that's all that matters, no more, no less

If I was a smartass this would be my retort
Animosity as my weapon of last resort...

What I don't get is that I thought the writer was supposed to have the idea of how he should do his own poem, or script, or book.

These people hide behind constructive criticism. They claim that they are only giving suggestions that could help the story.

What I don't get is that if we did things their way, it wouldn't be our story at all. We would just be feeding off of a million and one ideas that are not our own, and thus, lack originality, and rape us of our own special brand of story-telling.

Criticism is a matter of opinion, is it not? Maybe the way we write is exactly how we should be writing because that is who we are, and "getting better" at it is merely giving up our ideas and thoughts in place of other people's ideas and thoughts.

I read it like a rap and it flowed rather nicely, I must say. I kind of disliked the repetition of the work "best" at the ends of line 4 and 7, but other than that, I must say it was decent.

As previously mentioned, this sounds like a rap, not a poem. I like the meaning, but I just don't find it too be very poetic.

They do, they make the story, they make the characters, they make the interactions, they make the setting, etc.

In many cases they can, be more specific so I may respond in a more understanding way.

I think I get what you mean here, but I'm not going to jump to conclusions.

No, criticism is not always a matter of opinion. For example, if you did something, like washing dishes, and you did a poor job, I would criticize you by telling you what you did wrong, and what you need to do to be better at it. You don't need to take other's ideas, but always take them into consideration, and perhaps morph it into your own idea.

What makes a story unique is the way the author wrote it.

The content being the plots and twists and turns and wordplay etc etc etc... all there carefully and specifically placed and composed just the way the author had planned or perhaps not even planned but had written on a spur of the moment type thing.

Criticism is not something I loathe or anything like that.
It's just when the critique isn't useful that irks me.
Also, Butterfly Heaven wasn't written out of bitterness or anything, I just like making points.
Most people accept criticism, but only some critics are acceptable.
Chainsaw ninja, I'm actually grateful for your criticism, I'm not saying you should stop...
I'm just saying to be more helpful if you can.
