Monthly Art Collab(all are welcome)

Alright, here are my thoughts. I want to do a monthly art collab with a few good artists thats based on a random theme every month. I figure it'd be a nice break from the monotony of video game tributes and porn. ;-)

The rules are easy.
1. nothing pornographic, filthy, smutty. Tasteful nudity is ok.
2. Use YOUR OWN work. Lying sucks.
3. Constructive criticism only. If you're gonna be mean, do it on someone elses thread.
4. Generally, don't do anything a jedi wouldn't do. Catch my drift?

If this works out nicely, then yes, we'll do it every month. I'm hoping to meet some great artists and some fun people to share with. Submissions must fit the theme, obviously. Deadlines will be the end of every month, and since this month is about over, lets start august early. Don't be shy!

well to be honest... i was thinking of picking a few other artists that decide to join in on this and at the start of a new month, all vote on last months winner and have a seperate thread where the winner will be displayed as well as a runner up or two. something along those lines.... im making it up as i go. i just want to see some skil bottom line. besides, what else is there to do?

Sorry, but I still don't get it. Is it a contest where everyone submits a pic, a winner is chosen and we move to the next month or is this a collab where you take the submitted picture and create a flash flipbook or something?

It sounded like a good idea in the beggining, but now I'm confused, sorry.

Meh, who cares? The start pic is extremely solid and the theme is decent and very open ended. If this thread doesn't get locked i'll probably do something for it. Any excuse to do get people together to make art is a good excuse in my book.

Wow, here 3 days and you're already complaining about the monotony and boredom. That's rough!

There's the chow (and maybe a cow), pmotw, ngsmofw, collabs, contests, live streams, stickam, misc. user contribution topics ...etc. Just gotta look for them.

Not trying to squash your idea, I just don't see the point of it. The entire forum is meant for showing skills. What makes this thread special or different? Is it because you and some other random people are going to vote/judge? We have an entire portal for that.

how can you take a topic too literal if you did it last year?

I've been an NG fan for quite sometime, it's only until now that i've decided to actually participate in the community. look if you don't like it, thats too bad for then, huh. on the other hand, ive already got two people who seem interested. i beleive its a good start. i dont think im doing anything wrong renaenae

Hey dont listen to them, youve got a great idea here. I also am interested and will submit a drawing of my own. But is the theme for july or august?

I think the point being made is that it's not really a monthly collab. A better title for the thread would have been "Shoot for the Moon Challenge". And if you wanted to make a new one next month then that's great. It's not really a collab unless all of the artists efforts are gathered up at the end and showcased as a single piece.

Dudemar, 'Nae and the others (and myself) are just trying to establish what this 'collab' is and what it isn't. There's no need to go and get all bent out of shape about it.

Basically, what I gather is that it's a monthly themed art competition voted on by the participating artists..? Which would be very similar to several '__ of the week' competitions that go on here in the forum.

Which is fine. The title and the initial post were just a little confusing.
