Something like... Friday the 13th would be an example of the opposite of what I want.
I'm thinking... more in line with Jacob's Ladder, Session 9, and Donnie Darko - but better.
I cannot find. Halp.
The exorcism of Emily Rose. Really good movie.
I've hard that The Fourth Kind is good, but havent seen it yet.
If your looking for something funnier and interesting, kinda scary at the same time, I suggest Drag Me to Hell.

Looking for people who plays Fifa 08 :(
Master's of Horror - 'Jenifer' Is pretty well paced. Only an hour or so but feels like it's a full length movie. It'll make you jump and say WTF. :)

That certainly is not a horror movie. If you want a movie that like Donnie Darko, will make you think, then go and see Inception.

Incredibly slow paced, boring, poorly acted. Do not want.

Let the Right One In is a good example of a well done horror movie; though it's kind of lacking in fright.
Other favorites would be Phantasm, The Thing, Alien 1-4 (though that's more science-fiction), 28 days later, or even 28 weeks later...
Any of George A. Romero's films, The Evil Dead, Drag Me to Hell...
And if you're okay with abstract films, David Lynch's Eraserhead and Mulholland Drive; certainly creepy, and very thought provoking.
If I can come up with anymore, I'll post again.

Life is a performance, and the world is full of critics. Give it your all like it's your last show.
You don't even want to know
Guinea Pig 2: Flower of Flesh and Blood.
You'll thank me later.
The one horror that actually scared me was Shrooms because the setting is very similar to my residence, in the middle of nowhere. semi-good storyline and it makes you really wonder and at the end blows you away
Still the creepiest movie I've ever seen.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

I second Martyrs. That one's pretty much got your criteria covered.

I saw that movie a month ago and realized how many movies pretty much tore inspiration from that film.
"I think it passing odd that I am loved by one for a kindness I never did, and reviled by so many for my finest act." ~ Jaime Lannister
Event Horizon is okay I guess.
Its hard to find really great movies like that though. oh and btw, why do you wear that stupid man suit?
To make things random again.

They're about equal in quality, though the spanish dialogue adds a whole other level of intrigue somehow. I also found [REC] creepier than it's English counterpart.
Another good movie to mention would be Antichrist.
Not only is it exquisitely directed, but it's downright terrifying psychologically; I'm not easily disturbed either.
Two other films to mention would be Thrist, and Begotten: Begotten is completely bizarre, though not really a conventional horror film; Thirst might be something in your alley, although it's not really scary.
Shaun of the Dead. Definitely!
