4.09 / 5.00 12,195 ViewsI bought my first tablet a few weeks ago and here is everything I've drawn.. So give me constructive criticism or whatever..
This was my first drawing with a tablet ever.
This was my second ever drawing.. I spent too long on this and ended up fucking it up.
This was my first attempt at drawing an eye, this was like the 5th day I had my tablet. The next post will show a much better drawing of an eye.
This is the better eye, but the tear duct is on the wrong side. (It was 4AM when I drew it, cut me some slack)
First landscape I did. I HATE this.
This was inspired by one of the loading screens on Guild Wars: Eye Of The North. Although it looks more like a potato with green hair.

Actually, I think it turned out pretty decent.

this didn't come out too bad.... it's kind of like a chia pet.
Perhaps you should slap a face on it and go with it.
I think 'digital painting' is a stupid term, it's just regular digital art using diffusing anti-aliased brushes and 99% of the time the effect doesn't look anything like actual painting anyway
that aside, I think you do have a great sense of color but your actual construction of bodies and objects is very shoddy, but this is extremely understandable since you're new to tablets; I'd spend some time developing only your pen control skills and techniques before putting large amounts of effort into any full art

Okay thanks, I'll work on pen control :)

Your works look very good I might say. I love this particular one because it looks cute lol. Keep practicing, I'd like to see more please. Actually it looks more like an acorn to me. :P

Thank you! I like your art too :)
Ok.. Working on line stuff instead of colouring.. This isn't perfect but the best I've ever done :)

How surprising. No feedback whatsoever.

90% of the time, people don't get any feedback. Just post stuff, regardless of whether you get feedback or not. Besides, you're thread is really new, so give it time.

Well the only reason I was posting here was to get constructive criticism.

Sadly, that doesn't always happen right away.
Anyways, about your work. It really bothers me how you have a massive amount of blank space in each one. A background isn't always necessary, especially since you seem to be more practicing than anything, but you can crop things to clear up space and focus images more. However, I feel inclined to ask: are these WIPs or finished pieces?
The only "complete" looking ones are the snowy landscape and the floating island. Both look incredibly blurry and smeary. You should work on refining details more, as you do with the subjects you've painted.
The most recent one has a good, solid sense of depth to it, but the shape of its body feels lumpy, and looks as though it was intended to be completely round. I don't know what program you're working in, but most of them have the option to use layers. I'd suggest you lay out a layer before you start painting and use that one to sketch out your subject beforehand, so that you can get the shape well defined.
I'd call none of these "works of art", I'm just doing what I can to get better and better by doing drawing after drawing. The most recent one was meant to be kind of lumpy and not perfectly smooth, because it was a creature, not a walking beach ball :P I do use lots and lots of layers, starting with a rough sketch and building up from there. Thank you for the advice.

It's not that bad, you just need to think more about the perspective and placement of things. The trees need the most work, they just seem too blurry and messily done.

Yeah, it was mostly wanting to practice colouring so I kinda subconsciously rushed it. A lot. :P
Haven't uploaded anything in ages so here's something I came up with in about half hour yesterday. I know it's small but it was the first time I've touched a tablet in like a month so I didn't want to be too ambitious.
some of these are pretty cool, i understand with the whole feedback stuff, i have an art thread but hardly any crit, people will notice eventually and want to say something lol :) the latest drawing i like the background, i hate doing backgrounds. are you using photoshop for these?
This is something I drew in like ten minutes. Not to be taken seriously.
It's a really bad idea to use the preset grass brush in photoshop, mostly because it's really obvious and doesn't look anything like real grass when used excessively. I'd recommend sticking to basics rather than trying to make the background really detailed and the main focus simple. For example like in cartoons, when grass is often depicted as lines with the odd zigzag. It's simple yet effective.
How did you do the structural backgrounds in the most recent images?
Both the grass and the buildings were done with some brush set I found on deviantart. Not something I'd use in any serious work haha
