I know that this is the issue with most people in the UK right now but I honestly cant even get anything, even when trying. I handed in applications left and right and I would either not here from them again, or I would get a rejection (worst case, a fucking last minute rejection).
has anyone else have been dealing with this crap?
Yeah, I don't speak much...
I looked for weeks before giving up. This job market is a joke.

I have been looking for a job for months in a seemingly endless chirade before I finally managed to find one at a restaurant called Sonny's. After spending a week and a half there, I was told I was getting orders wrong so I was fired. I now have a semi job at a restaurant called Calypso in addition to getting a job offer from a place that cleans up the oil spill, although I have yet to hear from them. They did in fact get back to me the first time they said they would, so I just have to wait.

Oooh boy. Ranting in 3... 2... 1...
I've been at this bullshit for almost a year now. There are all kinds of reasons being flung at me by job centre monkeys trying to explain why I can't find a job, but the simple fact is this:
I live in the biggest employment-related shithole in the country, which is itself (like everywhere else) in the middle of the biggest recession for decades. There never were any jobs around here: Most of my family has had to move down south through sheer lack of anything to do here. I'm in the worst possible place, at the worst possible time, to try and find a job.
On top of that, outside of this area I'm being fucked sideways by the experience run-around. I can only ever find jobs that say shit like "Previous experience is necessary".
I can't get any damned experience, because no-one will give me a job, because I don't already have any experience. Me = buggered.
I have tried going for voluntary work, but then another vicious-circle comes and rapes me: Money. There are places that will give you voluntary work, but they're all hundreds of miles away. I'd have to relocate to do them, and with little money to relocate with it'd only be possible for a couple of weeks at best (far too short to be worth the effort of doing).
So here I am, imprisoned in this tiny little village in the middle of the worst place to live in the UK, stuck in an endless, purgatorial cycle until this economy horseshit finally clears off enough to allow me to get out of here (even at the best of tmes, findng a job around here is all but impossible). It's just a question of how many more months - or how many years - it will take for that to happen.
I spent a whole day going through the streets, filling out applications and handing out CVs, and so far? No luck. I am getting pressured to fuck to get a part time summer job but no one is taking on part timers, it's ridiculous. It's not like I haven't tried either.
I think people need to understand that there are only so many jobs out there.
I know all of you are describing how you can't find work. Well, I interpret the title a little differently...
Basically, we as a society shouldn't have to run around looking for work just to avoid living on the streets and eating from trashcans. Instead we should have all our basic needs (food, water, sanitation, clothing, shelter) provided for us. All the other wants (cars, TVs, computers) should require either a job, or a one time service.
And I do have a job.
It's terrible in the UK, I was job seeking for over 2 years until I got a job.
Just stick at it until you get put on training allowance, you're almost guaranteed either a job or at most experience for your CV.

The UK government has recently put a freeze on civil service employment, meaning even jobs for things like the army, navy, NHS, and almost every other government-controlled organisation is in the process of laying people off and not hiring anyone new. Ergo: No such luck even with military jobs.
Even though, for some reason, they're still running the ad for joining the army on TV. Weird...

They give out jobs like candy bars there. Over here we've had a great depression of jobs, people are still being made redundant and it's at an all-time high of people without work.

I did, too. My resume was looked over, I changed it, and gave it to them via e-mail. I applied to about 25 jobs with the service, but only got one interview over the phone that I wasn't expecting, but I think I handled it fine. I've applied to some other jobs and got two interviews, but that was before I went to the job centre, so I didn't get the jobs and I probably wasn't prepared for the interviews. Yeah, it's tough these days.
I have been so dismayed due to job-hunting for several years here (West Midlands, UK), that I eventually cut off my own genitals in an attempt to improve my personal marketability. Also, I'm doing an arts-degree, which means that whatever I'm studying is incredibly easy by definition. SORRY GUYS.
Of course, that's a joke. Sorry, because this has no relevance to the topic at hand. If I had honest assistance here, I'd flag it up.
OOOOOOW, MY GENITALS, ALL MY FAULT IT IS.
And that was no critcism of other posts like Sheizenhammer's for example. I enjoyed reading those posts. The whole process is just depressing, and personally, I'm worried. Now stealing oppurtunities to take what I can.
Of course, that is my fault, as is the apocalypse. The apocalypse of myself that is.
My brother is going through a very tough time where he is looking for a job. Supposedly, he got pretty far yesterday but he says that a lot, so I would not know when to take his word or not. At least he was able to get up at a good time and get everything done. Hopefully, we will not have to send him to that mental hospital after all. Of course, he has an appointment with his doctor that he is scheduling, so we shall let him be the judge.
