Everyone likes Street Fighter= and The King of Fighters. Everyone likes Rumble Fighter and Dungeon Fighter Online. Who gives a crap about Mortal Kombat?
Everyone likes Mario Kart. Many in the East likes KartRider. Who cares about Need For Speed.
And First Persons Shooters are considered bland, boring and repetiive.

Then there would be no valve, thus no steam. I would be sad indeed.

Koreans are into RTSs, silly.
It seems that those two are the only ones that really matters in it video game community.
Japan and MMO's are the only things that matter anymore?!
NOOOOOO!
Everyone likes Street Fighter= and The King of Fighters. Everyone likes Rumble Fighter.
Who gives a crap about Mortal Kombat?
The people who play em? Which is still a bit.
Everyone likes Mario Kart. Many in the East likes KartRider. Who cares about Need For Speed.
That's ONE game. Also I care about Need for Speed. A little bit. Sorta.
And First Persons Shooters are considered bland, boring and repetiive.
Depends on the game. Can't be generalizing now.

i disagree, since their hasn't been innovation or originality in shooters since Cod4... orr going way back MOH: Frontline.
A shooter is very easily generalized, since they're all the same.
But no.. i don't want just Japanese games. I like some western culture and european culture in my games too thanks. I don't need to see any more of tiny asian women with big fuckin tits that you'll never actually see in real life.
The only noteworthy genres in which Japanese game devs excel/differ from Western ones are fighters and JRPGs. Since I'm not a fan of either genre, no, I don't think it would be better.
I always facepalm at threads like these when the OP has no idea about the game companies in each country.
The trick is to use the drugs once to get there, and maybe spend the next ten years trying to get back there without the drug.

You named... what, five games? Then you generalized and assumed everyone likes these style of games?
Not everyone, in fact, likes Mario Kart. It's a great game, but a lot of people are more interested in realistic driving games. And a lot of people are interested in the goriness of Mortal Kombat.
Eastern developers have made some great games and are always trying to innovate, but they're not the only important names in gaming.

This is why I hate Japan. Not so much yellow people, but how stupid-ass Americans can't get enough of the angsty jrpgs and hentai text adventures that come from this place, then there's the anime and manga that creates the saddest nerds in existence.
Western RPGs are just as elaborate as JRPGs, sans the prerequisite angsty protagonist of every JRPG ever. Then you have the FPS genre, which American and European game designers have pioneered nearly every important advancement in. Games like Halo, Gears of War, and Call of Duty were all western developments, and are the most successful games in their genre. RTS games as well are a major production in western developers, games like Starcraft/Warcraft, Dawn of War, and Total War are all excellent examples of western contribution to the genre.
But again, if all you care about are angsty emo teens in fetish outfits going through the same motions as every JRPG hero in existence, then by all means make sure to own only a PlayStation and buy from Konami and Square Enix.
As well as Korea making MMO's?
World of Warcraft, Eve Online, Age of Conan, Runescape, even Gaia Online: all western productions.
It seems that those two are the only ones that really matters in it video game community. Everyone likes Street Fighter= and The King of Fighters. Everyone likes Rumble Fighter and Dungeon Fighter Online. Who gives a crap about Mortal Kombat?
Mortal Kombat was one of the most successful fighters of all time.
Everyone likes Mario Kart. Many in the East likes KartRider. Who cares about Need For Speed.
A lot of people play games like Need for Speed and Forza. Not everyone wants to play an imbalanced children's game.
And First Persons Shooters are considered bland, boring and repetiive.
The Bioshock, Halo, Call of Duty, and the Medal of Honor series, are all just as bland and repetitive as the Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Metal Gear, and Mario series.
Go back to eating your pocky and eating ramen with chopsticks you japenophile bastard.
True story...
I am NOT a Japanophile. It's just that some Eastern games look like they have more varity and seem a bit more colorful. Most Western hevr been considered, "brown," It doesn't help the Western side that the best video games in the eariler generations were made in Nippon. Maybe I am ignorant of the real community, but it seems that western games tend to lack something Eastern games have.
What I'm trying to say is something like this.
No offense, but your opinion sees a bit nutty to me.
Here are some of the most critically and commercially successful and important games that did not come from Asian developers.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2
Grand Theft Auto IV
Halo: Combat Evolved
Uncharted 2
Crash Team Racing
Mass Effect 2
Half-Life 2
Ms. Pac-Man
DOOM
Civilization
Metroid Prime
Perfect Dark
Tetris
Goldeneye 007
BioShock
LittleBigPlanet
Monkey Island 2
Pong
Surely there is something to like about developers located outside of Asia..?

Where western developers are going through a phase of making a shitload of gritty realistic games, eastern developers are making angsty emo games. I don't know where you're getting this "more variety" thing from, seeing as how both developers have commercially successful games that break away from popular trends.
Most Western hevr been considered, "brown," It doesn't help the Western side that the best video games in the eariler generations were made in Nippon.
Nippon? Are you fucking serious? Atari and Intellivision were both made by American companies.

Angst, emo-spice, and jiggle-physics. The former two most games could go without.

Not true at all, Halo's Forge + Theater = Some VERY fun times.
Blizzard entertainment has very colourful RTS titles. Look at screen shots of Warcraft III and Starcraft II. Fairly colourful. There was also Borderlands which had a fairly interesting art style, and so was the Fable series. And that's just off the top of my head. Western games can be quite colourful if you look beyond Call of Duty. Fuck even Halo has lots of bright colours abound.
I also much prefer a Western RPG like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Oblivion, or Fallout over pretty much every JRPG I've touched (Final Fantasy, Resonance of Fate, and so forth), and really, a lot of Japanese style games play similar to each other.
Of course, if only Japan and Korea produced games, we'd get even more Dynasty Warriors, more crap like Ninety Nine Nights 2, even more Mario titles, Resident Evil pouring all over us until it's turned into a First Person Shooter, and so on.

Angsty, emo games? I don't see that from Nintendo, Nippon Ichi Software, or Arc System Works. I see more wackiness, lolis, and hot-bloodness than angst and emoness.
I'm aware of American consoles back then. It's just that they weren't that popular compared to the NES. And what about The Great Video Game Crash of 1983?

Guilty Gear and a whole lineup of JRPGs is your argument that Japanese game developers create more diverse games than Westerners?

So because of the NES, the West should stay out of the game's industry?

*Yawns* More teenagers that think the Japanese are a some sort of enlightened people. As I said earlier, nobody wants your pocky-eating, acne-ridden, japenophile ass shitting all over western culture. Truth is, you'll never live in Japan, you'll never be Japanese.
True story...
I like JRPGs as much as the next person, but I really wouldn't like it if only Japan made games. Other countries produce some very fun games. I like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, but sometimes I want to play BioShock, Banjo-Kazooie, or Half-Life. The Japanese style can only go so far.
How would significantly lowering the amount of games being released be 'better'?

Btw, you gotta take into account that JRPGs wouldn't be what they are today without the influence of D&D and early WRPGs like Wizardry.
