Civilization IV: Beyond The Sword (or the Complete Edition type thing). If this proves a problem we could play vanilla but BTS adds a lot of cool things so it'll be fun.
A large map
As many of you guys as we can get, the rest regular difficulty AI.
Some kind of continents type setup. Two or three large continents full of civs.
I'll post my IP shortly before and to join you can click Multiplayer/Direct IP connection and then paste my IP and you'll go to the lobby if everything's going right
Sunday evening (tomorrow). Let's say I want the game to start at 4PM EST/9PM GMT. If you have to leave or something you can drop out and AI will automatically take over, then you can rejoin and take back your civ from the computer.
Players:
1. Me
2. Ledgey
3. Anyone else?
You're goin' down son.
If we call civs, I call France
GT - LedgeyNG, Steam - Ledgey91, PSN - LedgeyNG
I'd play, but I'm working from 3pm to 10pm tommorow.
PSN id - dellick
STEAM id - Yokumashu

I'll play but I'll likely get demolished. I struggle on anything above Chieftain.
I MIGHT play. If I do, I'll suck though. I haven't even beaten settler difficulty...
Bear in mind that I'm not very good either. I usually play on Warlord. People can feel free to choose their own difficulty settings (all AIs will be on noble).
I just want a shit and giggle

Frantically struggling to survive can be just as much fun as conquering the world, anyway.
I'll join if I can find time, but I suck HARD
I'd join, but I'd have to get BTS.
NOTE: if you're not seeing the image like this, then it is because your computer is possessed. You will need force a reload of the internet's lifeline, or kill it completely.
Would join in, but I don't have Civ 4 anymore and I'm out of money until next week.
Is there anyway to spectate Civ 4 games that doesn't involve breaking the law or am I just going wait until you do another one of these when I have bought the game again?
I would join, but I only have the standard edition Civilisation 4.
This too will pass.

this.
You should totally add me on one of my various game accounts:
360 - Malachi117. Steam - Malachi117. PS3/PS4 - NarcolepticCat.
You guys gotta document this somehow.
I don't have BTS, but I won't be able to join even if you guys play vanilla unfortunately.
Americans seem a little overpowered with their phat money from malls in the end-game and their SEALS own in archipelago maps. If we play a regular map I'll probably play Celts and complete the stonehenge before you fuckers build your first barracks.

So, hey, can we talk about Civ IV ITT? Cause I'm pretty shitty at this game (about 4th-6th on Noble usually), but I really enjoy playing Ghandi with a focus on culture and religion.

Military is by far the most imbalanced, even if you don't get a conquest victory (which is damn impossible on monarch) it still makes it incredibly easy to get a score victory by having the highest score by 2050. Simply invest all your money in science til you get gunpowder, and if you manage to get it before anyone else you can turn all your cities into war machines and immediately upgrade your existing units.
Then attack the person with the highest score (or second highest if it isn't you) and pay everyone else to help you. This gives you good relations and a chance at getting a diplomatic victory because if you're playing right you should be one of the candidates. Alternatively if you find the AP/UN to be a problem, declare war on the owner of it and raze the city with the corresponding building. Never again will you have to suffer unhappiness from defying resolutions are that are complete bullshit.
Military owns.

Fair enough, but winning isn't that important to me. I'd rather play with my morals intact and see where that takes me (that's not to say that I try to be nice to everyone; I've fucked other civs over many times).
Are we going to use this thread for future NG civ games too?
I have Civ4 (got the complete edition on last year's Steam Sale), but I never played online..how does it work?I presume that you have to wait for others players to end their tunrs, but wouldn't that take forever?
I'm in, if my stupid firewall will let me, I will just need to redownload Beyond the Sword which shouldn't be too much trouble.
can i play baroque trumpet in your armys brass section

I've never played online either before but from what I understand form the manual you can play two different ways.
Turn-based : Each person takes their turn, as you would do playing by yourself. In multiplayer though you can add a Turn Timer to limit the turn.
Simultaneous : Everyone takes their turn at the same time. After everyone has moved their units and conducted diplomacy and such the turn ends. You can also have a Turn Timer.

From my experiences with random people online, almost all of them will just leave after less than 1 hour and they will never join the game again. So pretty much you end up playing with humans for the first hour, then you just fight a bunch of AI that has taken control of their nations.

I would join but I only got the game today :P
Plus every time I work on a Nuke to get rid of Ghandi, The Romans start building next to me then I keep saying No to their trades so they kill me...
I'm guessing online people will be better then me and attack for no reason :(

A few other answers: We'll do simultaneous play. Otherwise it'd take stupidly long.
There'll be a turn timer. Probably on normal.
Also I'd like to start the game at 9:05 at the latest, since I won't know exactly who's playing I can't wait indefinitely. So be prepared five minutes early. Make sure you've got the latest patch installed (and be warned, if my memory serves me right it's quite a big patch).
And to clarify you can choose your own difficulty online so if you normally play Chieftain you can choose chieftain and if you play deity you can choose deity or whatever. So don't turn down the chance to play with us just because you suck :x
See you guys later.
And also I see no problem with using this thread to organise future games and discuss the game itself etc etc. We could run a Vanilla game at some point for those who don't have BTS and so on.

How does difficulty work on multiplayer, anyway? Does it just gives you the buffs/debuffs you get on that difficulty?

Lower difficulty slows inflation, unhappiness, unhealthiness, and maintenance and upkeep costs. It also slows down the AI's research rate, and makes it faster than normal on the higher difficulties. It also decreases the likelihood of barbarians spawning, and makes them spawn weaker units when they do.

I don't know for sure but I imagine in multiplayer only the personal buffs/debuffs are active, on account of everyone having different difficulties and shit.
