Now I plan to apply to on campus student jobs and off campus jobs as well. I'm a bit of a pessimist, so I'm pretty sure none of the employers will get back to me. For those who have jobs, you are extremely lucky to have them. Don't take shit for granted.
did you know America has "officially" plunged into a depression?
good luck.
ok
Anyone who has the ability to take action, has the responsability to take action.- paraphrased from the Declaration of Independance.
You could always seek out clueless dumb girls with low self esteem and poor body image on your campus and become a Pimp. It ain't easy, but you'll be rolling in a Lexus in no time flat.
I had to run through dozens of dead end interviews and potential jobs before i finally found a solid one, you'll get one just keep your head up. Campus jobs are always reliable but the pay is crap, try applying part time to a restaurant and then pair the two. You'll make a decent amount of money.
The sad thing, people will probably tell you you are a lazy bum and you should just die instead of sucking their money up.
I'm so glad America is over there, instead of over here.

Yeah, jobs are harder to come by these days. I've been lucky enough for my manager to keep me on seasonly for when I get back home from uni. It's still a shit job though, but at least its money/

I've only had 3 jobs in my life, and all being computer based work. All there is out there are only retail jobs, who won't hire based on resume, but only if you've had experience doing previous retail jobs. I know things might be better later, but how can I prepare for a real job if I can't get this shit together.

Well I personally have only had three jobs as well and one of them is a newspaper carrier so that's not really any basis for work experience. Also there's not only retail jobs out there stop looking in the mall. Pick up the paper everyday and look you'll get lucky one day.
Also if you're experience is in computers then find a field in that. My sister did accounting at Home Depot because all she knew was computers and that actually helped her out in making a lot of money. It really does suck because their are always openings for good jobs, but they come and go so quickly and their not publicized. You really have to look and be confident that you're gonna find that job that will work for you just as much as you work for it. When there's a will there's a way, you know the cliche.
Hmm, it isn't that way in Alabama. Every kid that applies for a job here nearly gets one. Are you sure it wasn't a problem of your resume?
For I am and forever shall be... a master ruseman.
I've applied to over a dozen different places (some of them multiple times as time went by and positions opened up) and I've only gotten two jobs. One was an amusement park ride operator. My current one is as a janitor for the high school I graduated from. Gotta get that money.

Doubt it. My resume is pretty good. I've done a bunch of volunteer work, have extra curriculum activities down, ect. I guess it's where I live.
First question, OP: What job do you want?

Have you ever taken drugs or have been arrested?

I forgot to ask that one. Don't say you can't get a job if you haven't applied for all the local fastfood places and the Wal-Mart. Also try to sign up for jobs in the mall. A job you hate is better than being unemployed.

Nope. Funny thing is, some store I tried out for hired a guy who've been in jail

Anything really. Just need money on the side.

Where have you been applying? Are they online applications or are you handing them in in person to the manager/boss/person with the authority to hire? Do you have any prior job experience?
If you're willing to do any job you can get, you could probably get one (probably a minimum wage, soul-crushing job, but if it's only for one summer, then it's bearable). The biggest thing that is probably preventing you from getting hired is the fact that you can only work seasonally. Most places don't want to hire and train someone only to have them work for a couple months and then maybe not even come back next year. If you were to apply to a chain and then make it clear that you were willing to work while at school at another location of the chain, you might be more likely to at least get an interview.

Go work for minimum wage and don't go in saying that you only want to work during the summer you fucking retard, lol. Tell them that you're right out of high school and looking for full time work and guarantee them that you'll be with them at least 1 or 2 years. Then when the summer ends quit the job.
And hand in these applications to the manager directly without some bull shit resume. These guys are looking for spineless idiots to work for them. Why do you think they hired the dumbass ex-convict because he's going to stay there for life. At places like these that pay under $30 an hr you don't need to be all impressive and shit, just walk in and say you're an idiot that will work for them for life.
I've only had to apply for one job, hell I've even been offered other jobs.
Jobs may be hard to find, but they're easy to get if you're not a worthless piece of shit.

I was unemployed for eighteen months at one point, I can assure you I take employment seriously.
Anyways, what kind of jobs are you applying for? Are you looking for part time or full time?
With your age (19 as it says in your profile) you're gonna have trouble finding serious, full-time work. Employers know that younger people are likely to leave, go off travelling or whatever, and that a lot of them are only around for a short while. It's a shame but that's the way it is.
Also, what kind of work experience do you already have? 'Cos if you're applying for decent jobs and your only experience is something like washing up in a restaurant, you're going to struggle to catch the employer's eye.

Not about luck. It's about attitude. Most retail jobs tend to be crap. But try applying to places like Lowes and Home Depot. They'll usually start you off at $10 per hour. Just keep trying. Don't quit.
i have none sir, havent evan applied for any
