My house was broken into today... 2010-07-13 06:25:04 Reply

Hey guys, fun little story for you!

My girlfriend called me up all hysterical as i was leaving work and managed to convey to me that the house had been broken into. My mind immediately jumped to my studio. Most people here will know I'm a gear whore, but for those who don't, let's just say I have alot of items which would be attractive to your would be thief.

Not to mention our collection of vintage consoles, hd tv, multitude of computers, and jewelry.

Fucking dicks took the PS3. That's it. They even left Tomb Raider behind, but to their credit, it was a pretty shit game.

Renters insurance here i come!!!

hmmm...They only took a PS3? sound like kids to me. My car was broken into recently, and instead of taking CD's, my juggling equipment, a guitar, or 10 bucks in loose change they took some deposit slips form my glove box, probably thinking they had my bank info. Kids are retarded.

That sucks though, at least that's all they took.

What? That's it?

You're one lucky Son. :-)

Just for curiosity, what kind of gear you own? Are we talking about the precious rare vintage stuff here?

I won't go into details, because I'm sure people are sick of my gearwhoring, but I have a lot of oldschool Roland and many other assorted bits and bobs.

And yeah, pretty sure it was kids. They tried looking for drugs which made me lol (they rifled through our damiana and passionflower, trying to find pot lol).

Still, surprised they didn't take off with my cdjs or any guitars though. I recently changed my ceiling lamp to a blacklight, which I feel may have hindered their efforts somewhat :P

Nah, more of a selection of underdogs :). JX-3P, Alpha Juno, D-50, W-30 etc. The kind of stuff that guys who weren't as big as Vangelis or Depeche Mode were using. Definitely not 'main' synths like your Jupiter 8's or JX-10's, but still a very nice selection of flavors :)

That's quite ridiculous.

Such a comment is aimed both at those stupid house entering children and the fact that you have so much gear. :P

This reminds me of a story my cousin told me once about a family who'd be broken into (Only, the situation started and ended in the opposite result):

"It was a family of four. The mother and father had just come home about the same time. The mothers car was outside and the fathers car was inside. Two guys come along and see the car outside is unlocked. They then go into the car, use the the garage door opener (the garage is on of those silent ones), find the keys to both of the cars in the purse of the mother in her unlocked car, and take both cars. All while the family was sitting down to eat."

I don't know why this reminds me of that, but I thought I should babel for a while.

Lol, I love how they passed right over them. Good choices you have by the way.

Still, surprised they didn't take off with my cdjs or any guitars though. I recently changed my ceiling lamp to a blacklight, which I feel may have hindered their efforts somewhat :P

Man, you could have been out of thousands of thousands. You are so lucky.

This is a lot like what happened to me my final year at Ohio U. I was living with three other people in a house, and one day someone broke into our house and stole our wii. They didn't even take the chord that plugged it into the wall, or any games. Just the console itself, and my backpack to carry it in. Because we all know how cumbersome it is to carry a wii down the street. -_-

But yea, not sure why game consoles are stolen when there are other things available. They skipped over two laptops on the coffee table, a tv, surround sound system, my PS3, and a whole bunch of both PS3 and wii games.

Although it sucks they stole your PS3, I'd hate to lose mine I know that much. It is good to know that is all they took. Sounds like it could have been a whole lot worse.

Thanks guys :)

And yeah, it could have been devastatingly worse. Luckily most of my stuff is replaceable...it would just be so demoralizing.

Man they found my box of k'nex in our bedroom. Would have loved to have seen the utter look of disappointment on their faces when they emptied it out everywhere and didn't find drugs or money...just k'nex and assorted bits of Lego. Haha dummies.

If he had a 360 it would probably be on it's third or fourth RRD.

Move to Canada... People don't break in here, they ring your door bell and politely ask if they can steal your stuff.

Here in Malta the Maltese people are too wimpy to steal anything. Seriously, I've never heard of ANY robbery or theft EVER occur over here, and the only murders I've heard of over here are when Maltese people, with their HORRIBLE driving, run over someone.

It's seriously more dangerous using a toothpick than living here.
