Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker might be some really interesting political movie. I bet it would have a really good background of the Iran-Contra Affair.

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions would also be a great movie. There would be a lot of potential for the director to fuck it up, but if it turned out badly you could just not see it. I really like the question it asks about morality.

Yep, the video game movie with the highest rating on RottenTomatoes is "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" with a score of 44%. Even at that rating, it still managed to be a disaster at the box office. At least the Prince Of Persia got an okay rating at 39%. The highest rated movie based on a video game on the IMDB is "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" at a rating of 7.5, and even that has its fair amount of haters.
