A few weeks after Kyron was kidnapped in Portland, I have been noticing how nice the media has been to the stepmother. The facts point a huge blinking neon arrow of suspicion toward her, yet the media has stayyed away from her completely.
The facts, for those who are not as familiar:
- Step mother brings kid to school for science fair
- kid is seen at science fair, but not after that
- Mother is not where she was supposed to be at time when he was kidnapped
- The boy is not the mother's actual kid
- The mother had tried to hire a hitman to kill her husband
- the pleas to find him were signed by his mother, father and stepfather, but NOT his stepmother
- Most kidnappings are by family, and his step mother is just step, so she wouldn't have the same love for him as a biological mother
Why does the media make its decisions before any evidence comes out and stick with it while evidence shows a very different story? They are quick to villify celebreties, even when the evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of innocence, while People Magazine is still acting as if this was an innocent child abduction and ignoring the mounting suspicious evidence toward the step mother.

Apologies. After reading it again later, it was worded really poorly. The point is still the same though. All of the circumstances combined with her relationship with the boy's father all cast major suspicion in her direction but the media has seemed to completely stay away from this.

Well, people Magazine has finally started to question the stepmother's story.
The lack of any real response here answers my concern. I guess people care about their own sensibilities, but they couldn't care less about a kidnapped child. Not the best picture of society painted by Newgrounds, but I guess any better is just too good to ask.

I'm more shocked at the fact social services allow this kind of women to even have a child. She tried to hire a hitman to kill her husband? women like that really can't be any danger to her child no sir!

Wow. By trying to get a hitman to kill her husband, she should be charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder, which is as serious as it sounds...She would be jailed for a very long time, but I wonder why the authorities haven't arrested her for it, unless I'm missing something.

The hitman was not too long ago, so she had her children long before she tried to have her husband killed.

Woah, most kidnappings are seriously by family members? I heard that most rapes were committed by people you knew, but nothing about this. If you are a family member as close as that, how could it even be considered kidnapping and why would you even do it? While I know little about kidnappings, I think you should present more evidence that this woman did it.
Why does the media make its decisions before any evidence comes out and stick with it while evidence shows a very different story?
Probably because people simply want as much information and the media will try to give any information it can.

No, it wasn't worded poorly, it was wrong. Being a biological parent does nothing to make you love somebody better, and being a non-biological parent does nothing to make you love anybody less.

The problem is that the suspicious information about the stepmother was revealed weeks ago, let alone the fact that the origina;l scenario was already suspicious enough. The story was there, the media just refused to look at it.

True, but continuing this has what to do with the argument except to prove that people only care about themselves and don't care about what the real story behind the kidnapping is.

It's because people are so quick to judge about a certain person who could have done the crime, and the media are often the first ones to pick up the story and air it on the 6:00 news, and public opinion can make even a simple incendent turn into a crime against humanity.
And having hitmen trying to taking out a family member because of custody rights of a kid only makes things worse for the stepmom.

this is very true because of the information given all the evidence clearly points to the stepmother but that could have been some kind of ploy by the real perpetrator to frame the stepmother but it is highly unlikely that it was that coordinated and thought out.
