Anyone else have any stories they'd like to share?

Out of all my online gaming playing online with GTA, BFBC2, AO2 40th day, RDR, SVR 2010, LBP, SSFIV, Half-life, and many more online games, I've never met any douches online and the worst someone has said to me in a game was that I sounded retarded. I just said I was disguising my voice and we left it at that....
I've also met some 11-12 year olds online and they were friendly, never raged etc.

Though I do play on the PS3 not that probably makes much difference....

You know, I wonder what happened to Online Co-Op. I only saw it actually be implemented* in two games that are currently released, neither of which have any sign of douchebaggery over the voice chat: Monster Hunter Tri and Rock Band 2. Monster Hunter Tri has a campaign DEDICATED to online co-op, and the single player campaigns (Tour and Challenge) of Rock Band 2 can be done online as well. Downsides are Wii Speak mandatory for voice chat and DLC needs to be purchased by everyone to play that specific content respectively.

*By saw it being implemented I mean played through and witnessed, and L4D and L4D2 do not count because I did not purchase either game, let alone play them. No offense, fans of the L4D series.

Oops, my bad, I forgot to add LBP to my list, and downside of that game is online coop through DLC campaigns can be tough to find.

Well, you are a very lucky guy. Most of the people I meet online have mouths that seem to be raised by racism, sexism, and all around douchebaggery.

I have a quick question, what games do you play that has all these assholes? Yesterday I was on WoW and had a conversation with a father while going through a dungeon, during startcraft 2 (inb4beta) most people are very reasonable. Team Fortress 2 has a good, yet somewhat silent community. Garry's Mod....well yeah, there are some good ones on there too.

Mabye it's just PC gaming that has gotten good, I don't know.

He's playing xbox live and complaining about it. I am not amused.

While he has some good points he has to realize most of those stereotypes are actually untrue, so why start complaining about them?

If you watched the whole thing, he started at the beginning talking about how some stereotypes are wrong, but some people have to exhibit the signs for them to stick.

I did watch the whole thing. 20 minutes of it. Yeah, we have a bad seed here and there, doesn't mean you have to shun the whole gaming community as a bunch of lazy jackoffs who have never exercised in their life. Most of the gamers I know have good jobs, know the concepts of reality and how to interact with society. I mean it be different elsewhere but from my eyes, we're a pretty good group of people.

I'm not much of an online gamer. I gave it a shot with Left 4 Dead, but it's so rare to find someone who is either at my skill level (whether that be lower or higher) or aren't complete dicks. These aren't problems with local multiplayer because it's easier for me to have team coordination if I'm in the same room with my team mates. I know this isn't true for everyone, so it's probably psychological.

Luckily there are still plenty of good single-player or local multiplayer games coming out.

As for arcades, I never got into them. Perhaps because I was born in 1990, and many arcades were dying out by the time I was old enough to be on my own for hours at a time. The concept doesn't seem too appealing to me anyway--sure the atmosphere is probably great, but I'd imagine the place would be filthy with kids eating greasy food and sharing arcade machines. Thank god for home consoles.

I like how you liked all the arcades and parties with friends to play classic games and I definitely agree with shitty and or short campaigns now in new games, but I love online gaming. There's many things I hate about it, but the pros outweigh the cons. Multiplayer gaming is hours of fun. I could play games like Counter Strike and Team Fortress 2 for tons of hours because they're so addicting. And taking real players away and adding bots is possible, but honestly everyone knows bots suck and playing with real people is so much more fun.

Bottom line: online gaming can be annoying and tedious, but there's no denying how fun it is.

It's true. I do enjoy playing online with nice people.

Agreed, but I make real friends on the internet, regardless of that. But if I could i'd love to find a good old arcade.
