Yeah I had problems with sound running too fast. If you use Swish (like Me!) then you haven't exported the flash to html+swf properly. If you use Macromedia, you have to set the music to STREAM NOT EVENT.

Well, I wouldn't get too uptight if things don't work quite the same after its uploaded. No matter what site you post it to, the upload will never quite work the same as it does on your own comp--depending on how and what you do. The variations in computer brands and processor speeds all cause things to view differently, too, so I suggest testing in multiple browsers and flash players to see what you may expect with your flash.

As for animating, I've found that too many layers doing large movements at once will cause lag after upload. Sound set to 'event' rather than 'stream' always seems to change the way the flash works. Watch my flash 'out in the rain' or 'mofoamy' and you'll see that they never seem to work the same way twice. This is because I did them with Swish and its impossible to stream sound there. I used a 45 second sound clip for '...rain' and the animation is all over the place in that one. In 'mofoamy' I used smaller sound clips, but I used too many motion effects which really messed with the frame rate.

The only way to become really good at flash is to realize its limits and quirks and learn to work around them. So far, I've done 3 flash with Macromedia and 3 with Swish and I like them both for different reasons, but I've taken notes and learned how to deal with the shortcomings of each to make better flash.

I know you're upset 'cause you put lots of time into your work and it didn't come out the way you wanted -- I felt the same when my first one didn't play correctly-- but don't let it get you down. I liked what you did and I think you've got skills. Take notes and keep working with it and future flash will turn out better. After you hone you skills, if you still don't like the way a particular thing worked, you can always go back and change it.

Much luck!

Actually, it runs at lower quality because when you watch it on your computer, you use the Standalone Flash player. However, when embedded in an html doccument, it runs differently.

Dude, I promise that it wasn't Newgrounds fault that there was a problem with your movie

if you are a Swish user or whatever, then there might have been some problems exporting... if you are a MX or MX2004 user, you just suck at flash and you are looking for an escuse for why your first movie got blammed...

look man, either way, its not NG's fault, so don't go pointing the finger at others
