Is Fraps Really Worth The 40?

I've been looking into recording software. I really want to do my own "home made" trailers of games. Not shitty ones, I mean really nice videos. Oh, I can't wait to record killing floor... heh heh... anyhow, I've heard a lot about FRAPS and said, "Oh, this is cool. I guess it's only like ten, fifteen dollars. *Looks at price.* What the fuck!?" Is it REALLY worth $37.00? That seems a bit steep. I mean a dazzle (with additional splitters and such) is only $70 if you plan to stream console games. And for a capture card, that is somewhat inexpensive. Anyhow, reply and give advice please.

Or you can use Hypercam or Xfire.

fraps is a pretty low-end product for recording. It just makes your frame rates go way down. As to what you should use, I'm not sure rofl. And I thought fraps was free anyways?

Oh boy Unregistered Hypercam 2 is in the corner again! Seriously, fuck that noise. You don't want that annoying thing hanging in the corner like you see in so many LPs.

I'd assume just to use WeGame. I use it, the only problem I have with it is the audio gets out of sync sometimes. I think it's just my crap-tastic video card's framerate dip that causes it. 'Course, I've been wrong before, maybe someone with more experience or a troll will come by and chew me out on the matter. :P

And no mention of Kdenlive for video editors? I am disappoint.

I've installed GameCam, since I'm fairly certain it's like fraps except it records videos to no end without having to pay. Then again, I haven't used it. Small program though, so it wouldn't hurt to try.
