In flash, what is the animator's cheater tool for doing menu's and scene selection in movies. (For the people who don't know actionscript)

The script helper drag-and-drop thingy. The one where you can just drop the word stop(); into the Actions box and it magically stops to movie. It's called script assist.

Noooooooo! Not that not that! There's another tool that's like, select the thing on the stage and press a button that says "make this button into a link" and shit. How can nobody else know of this?

The Behavior Panel.
Make a button, place it on the stage, select it and go into the behavior panel; then press the + sign, and go Movieclip > Goto and Play at frame or label.
You can select _root as a movieclip; and you can use 'goto and Stop' for pausing the whole thing at the beginning

Parallax is used to simulate a 3d look. Faraway objects move slower and close objects move quickly. When the camera moves, the far background only moves a bit, but things in the midground move faster. To recreate it in Flash, you could create several different layers, each with different parts of the background(eg far, mid, close), and move them steadily.

Those are the painful way, and i'm crying for you because it hurts so much.

There's a way to do it with 1 click of the mouse, find the button for me.

Don't want to sound rude but these last questions have been kind of lame, and flash related. Not animation related.

most often used by background artists and special effects teams,
But limited animations is when you reuse certain parts of the cells or copy frames so you do not have to redraw or "work" the art again.

btw if you have a fireplace good, of not, get one and trow that animators survival book in it

Drawing without thinking is just doodling, the brain and pen is connected.

To me limited animation is when you use less than mediocre animation, like FBF or tweens.

Usually a good example of limited animation is Blinklife. It's a great series of information but has a nice and simple animation to it, which probably took 1 week or less to make.

Yeah, limited animation is just lazier animating really, typically used by tv studios n junk trying to make lots of tv shows really fast.

Hip movement (up,down, back, forth, side to side), upper body twisting, (gives some realy nice opposing action to the hip) and believe it or not but feets bending, I've seen soo many walkcykles with bad feets and it just ruins the whole animation. If you don't believe the character is actualy planting his foot on the ground, why would you believe the rest of the animation?

Really, is that how people judge what frame rate to use, depending on if they're doing a run or walk cycle?

If I'm doing a movie (rarely..), I'll work at 24 FPS, and it's easy to work with, but if I have to do game art, I let the programmer decide because it's really easy to judge how quick a walk cycle has to be, by increasing the spacing frames, or changing how much the characters moves per frame.

No, but there is a general rule on how many frames a run/walk cykle should be Jordan just says it's 24fps so we can answer on common ground since two people could answer 12 and 15 and mean the same speed if they use diffrent fps.

Might as well drop an answer I guess, I usually go for 12 frames.

That'll do lad! An average run cycle hits 4 steps per second, which is 2 cycles at 12 frames, or 4 steps per second.
